Ratings-disaster CNN supposedly wants to hire away “Morning Joe” Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski from MSNBC.
Programming exec Chris Licht, who is now running things there, was one of the creators of the Scarborough show when he worked for the far-left network and is allegedly seeking a reunion with the husband-and-wife team, according to Radar Online.
“Sources tell RadarOnline.com that CNN’s new boss Chris Licht, the man who made Joe and Mika morning TV stars on MSNBC, wants to bring the couple over to his new network,” the gossip website claimed.
“Licht joined MSNBC as an executive producer in 2005. He developed a close relationship with Scarborough and the two created Morning Joe. The EP stayed with MSNBC until 2011 when CBS hired him as vice president of programming. The following year, he was responsible for launching the network’s morning show, CBS This Morning,” the entertainment news outlet claimed.
Sources allegedly told Radar that “When CBS hired Chris, he wanted to hire Joe and Mika to head up his morning show instead of Gayle King. Joe and Mika were into it, but they couldn’t get out of their deal with NBC. Now Chris is pulling the same trick again as he starts his new job at CNN hoping this time, he will be able to pull it off.”
“It is unlikely MSNBC will let them out of their contract, but Chris is a patient man,” the scoop about the purported ongoing secret talks added.
Reports have emerged that Licht wants to move away from liberal opinion and toward straight news, for which CNN originally made its name.

The interest in the MSNBC duo, however, suggests that CNN’s content is unlikely to change much. Scarborough is an ex-GOP congressman who is now perhaps indistinguishable from the other left-wing hosts on the conspiracy-pedaling network. His panelists typically follow his lead.
“CNN’s new boss Chris Licht is monitoring anchors to ensure their tone follows the network’s plan to become less partisan — and personalities such as Brian Stetler and Jim Acosta could be forced out, according to a report,” the New York Post claimed in June. Both Stelter and Acosta are still on the payroll as of this writing, however.
In a similar theme, according to a RadarOnline source, “Chris’ first priority will be fixing CNN’s morning and primetime programming. That is where the big advertiser money is. Anderson Cooper, Don Lemon, and the morning hosts should be concerned.”
Jeff Zucker successor Licht, moreover, came to the cable network that former President Trump famously branded “very fake news” from his role as executive producer of Stephen Colbert’s aggressively left-wing CBS show which functions as a pro-Democrat infomercial rather than an actual entertainment program.
Although the network has recently started criticizing President Biden, which is probably coordinated with the Democrat establishment, much of CNN’s lineup appears to still suffer from Trump derangement syndrome which has metastasized into GOP derangement syndrome.
Joe Scarborough is one of many pundits in the Trump era, or post-Trump era, who abandoned — sometimes abruptly — their “principled” conservative beliefs in exchange for a paycheck from MSNBC, CNN, or at another liberal corporate news outlet. Thus, he would probably be a good fit for CNN if a deal ever gets struck.
The Never Trump pivot is similar to the babyface-to-heel turn in the scripted professional wrestling industry that usually occurs during a match.
As a career journalist, Morning Mika — the daughter of Zbigniew Brzezinski, President Jimmy Carter’s national security adviser — has always been liberal.
Back in the day, “Morning Joe” gave Donald Trump a lot of air time before they entered into a long-running feud.
