With the 2024 Presidential campaign season on the horizon, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough made tall claims about the media’s supposedly rosie portrayal of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fl.) and allegedly poor coverage of Vice President Kamala Harris.
Scarborough posted a “MEDIA BIAS ALERT” on Twitter Sunday morning, claiming that Kamala has been kicked to the curb while DeSantis benefits from his so-called white privilege.
“MEDIA BIAS ALERT,” the television host wrote on social media. “Kamala Harris hasn’t had a positive profile in a year. DeSantis sneezes and he’s framed as the rising star of politics. And yet the Great White Hope STILL loses [in] every had-to-head matchup with Harris. The VP also draws even with Trump.”
He cited several polls and claimed that despite the alleged “media bias” against Harris, she would still be the predicted winner today if voters had to pick between her and DeSantis.
Scarborough failed to mention that perhaps Harris has earned the press coverage she deserved. Check out this compilation of just a few of her awkward moments and decide for yourself:

Scarborough’s comments came at a time when it is looking increasingly like Democrats could change horses and nominate someone – anyone – other than President Joe Biden for the 2024 bid for the position of Commander in Chief. With Harris’ and DeSantis’ prominence in their respective parties, their names bubble to the surface of many projections about who might run as a possible replacement for the bumbling old man currently occupying the White House.
In fact, Democrats appear to be running in the opposite direction from the second in command of the United States with a prominent Democrat donor noting last week that “she seems completely useless.”
Scarborough’s claims about both potential presidential candidates were challenged on social media. One pointed out the extreme coverage that DeSantis saw in his push for Floria’s recently enacted Parental Rights in Education bill that was ravenously mischaracterized by the corporate media as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill.
I think we all know right-leaning press outlets favor DeSantis. But the NY Times, Washington Post, CNN, MSNBC, CBS News, etc? Come on, man. Look at what Vanity Fair published yesterday. Also, I didn’t say Trump would win by 7. The poll you cited has him up by 7 over Harris, 47-40 pic.twitter.com/viBk3UW2Ol

In all fairness, liberals who push gender fluidity on small children likely believe it is a “Dystopian Hellscape” to pass a bill that prevents the sexualization of young Kindergarten through third-grade school in schools.
Since it’s still early in the election process and neither candidate has announced their candidacy, Jay Caruso continued to clarify why the polls might not be an accurate picture of the probable outcome in 2024 while noting the media targeting of DeSantis.
A. The notion that DeSantis gets positive news coverage is absurd. It’s more like when he sneezes, the press asks how many people he killed.
B. Harris’s “lead” has more to do with name recognition – thus the 20% “don’t know/unsure”
C. Trump beats Harris by 7 points.

In response, Scarborough doubled down on his claims that DeSantis has been crowned the “Great White Hope” of the Republican party.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
The Murdoch’s have taken their crown off of Trump’s head and placed it squarely on DeSantis. Every media outlet Republican primary voters read or watch or listen to has framed him as the Great White Hope. It’s nonstop. And btw, Trump ain’t beating anyone by 7.— Joe Scarborough (@JoeNBC) July 3, 2022
His twisted take on the state of the media was slammed by one person who wrote, “This guy may have once had some political savvy but years on MSNBC have turned him into a blithering ignoramus.”
Scarborough continued to spew his predictions about the demise of the Republican party if DeSantis takes the helm.
Here’s my takeaway: DeSantis will melt under the national spotlight, Trump is damaged goods, and Republicans are so extreme they’re chasing voters away who don’t consider themselves Democrats. This 2022 election is far more competitive at this stage than it should be.
