A “speechless” George Conway is trying to distance himself from his Lincoln Project ex-colleague John Weaver who is facing allegations of trying to groom young men, but his veracity is being widely questioned.
At the end of one of the signature Trump-bashing segments on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” an uncharacteristically reticent, if not apologetic, host Mika Brzezinski admitted that she’d be “remiss” for not asking Conway about his Lincoln Project co-founder who stands accused of alleged online harassment of about 21 men. This activity was supposedly an open secret, at least in some circles.
“It’s terrible and awful and appalling and unfathomable. I didn’t know John very well. I, frankly, only spoke to him a couple times on the phone early on in the Lincoln Project. It’s almost — I don’t even know what to say. It’s just terrible. It leaves me speechless, frankly,” the suddenly contrite Never-Trumper, who is married to MAGA stalwart Kellyanne Conway, claimed.

Does anyone think that this sounds sort of like Captain Renault from the iconic movie Casablanca who famously said inside Rick’s cafe that “I’m shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!”?
In any event, the twice-used qualifier “frankly” could be a tell.
On Sunday, as part of the pro-Biden organization’s damage control, the Lincoln Project denounced John Weaver, who has left the group, as a “predator, a liar, and an abuser.”

Reacting to the “Morning Joe” exchange, media columnist Joe Concha was among those suggesting that Conway wasn’t exactly being a truth-teller, either.
“Here’s George Conway lying on national TV saying he didn’t know fellow co-founder of The Lincoln Project very well. In a related story, here’s a NY Times op-Ed he collaborated with Weaver on that Conway heavily promoted and touted. Utterly laughable,” he tweeted.
Although there are many Conway apologists on Twitter, other social media users co-signed with Concha. Here is just a sample:
