AOC slams Republicans ‘forcing themselves on women’s bodies’, aligns pro-life movement to ‘rape culture’

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) went on an off-the-rails rant via Instagram Thursday night bashing pro-life Republicans over anti-abortion laws and drawing a “direct through-line” between support for the sanctity of life by conservatives and rape culture.

In a lengthy video on Instagram, Ocasio-Cortez says she once feared she would need to have an abortion after being sexually assaulted, remarking it left her feeling “horrified” and “really alone” but that she “at least had a choice.” Then she turned her anger on Republicans, whom she accuses of trying to strip her of her choice to kill an unborn child.

“I have, you know, publicly kind of talked about my experience with sexual assault in the past. After you experience something that traumatizing and if you are a person that menstruates you know your cycle, and this happened to me, your cycle can be really really thrown off,” she remarked.

“You may miss a cycle, you may not even be pregnant but miss a cycle because of the amount of the immense trauma and stress of experiencing that,” she continued.

“I remember when that happened the horror that I had felt and I felt really alone,” Ocasio-Cortez added, noting that she had grown up in a religious household and her choices were deeply personal.

“And that is why it is a choice for every person,” she charged.

“I remember in that moment after what happened I was so horrified. What I do remember in that moment was that I had felt like no matter what’d happened… I at least had a choice in what happened to my life after a choice was taken away from me… after a choice over my body was taken away from me,” the congresswoman recounted.

The rage from leftists following the leak of a draft opinion from the Supreme Court indicating it is on the brink of overturning the landmark abortion case Roe v. Wade has been epic. If the case is overturned, abortion would not be outlawed. The legality of it would be handed back to the states for voters to decide. Senate Democrats failed to pass a law to codify the Roe v. Wade decision.

Approximately 25 states are expected to immediately outlaw abortion, including 13 states with so-called “trigger” bans, according to the Independent.

Pro-abortion activists have protested outside of the Supreme Court and the justices’ homes. Authorities are warning of possible widespread violence as well.

Ocasio-Cortez’s heated rhetoric seems to be meant to foment that hatred on the left. She appears to be painting Republicans as “forcing themselves” on women’s bodies without consent concerning abortion rights.

“No person, no man, no person can take your body, can ethically take your body and use it how they want without your consent, and that is exactly what Republicans are doing right now. They are taking women’s bodies and forcing themselves on women’s bodies,” she said ginning up the specter of rape in connection to overturning the abortion law.

“Forcing their opinions. Forcing their perspective on women’s bodies without their consent,” she raged. “They are violating not just women, but trans people and non-binary people in this country.”

Ocasio-Cortez was visibly frustrated and enraged over the issue.

“They are forcing themselves on our bodies without our consent, and they’re trying to legislate that in the law, and that is honestly the similarity between rape culture and these horrifying anti-choice, forced birth laws. Direct through-line,” she declared.

Although most of her venting was at Republicans, she also went after Democrats whom she considers not pro-choice enough. Those that don’t fully support the killing of the unborn should be pushed out of Congress according to the young Democratic Socialist.

“Whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat, if you believe in taking a woman’s choice away from them, you gotta go,” she proclaimed.

Ocasio-Cortez announced that women who can’t get an abortion in Texas, Oklahoma, or any other state were welcome in New York.

“We will do what we can to welcome you. We have taken action on a state level, including opening up abortion funds to help people with transportation needed to get here,” she vowed.
