Anti-Trump activist Dr. Eugene Gu is seriously claiming that the recent spate of violence against Asian Americans committed by black individuals is actually caused by white supremacy and it is the fault of white people in general.
The narrative that crimes against Asian Americans are primarily committed by white people has been spreading on the left since the Atlanta massage parlor shootings took the lives of six Asians and two others. The shooter was a white male who claimed to have a sex addiction that drove him to kill the victims. He also indicated it was not racially motivated. The blaming of white people also kicked into gear after the Boulder, Colorado shooting that left ten dead. The media and leftists originally alleged it was a white man, but it turned out to be a mentally unstable Middle Eastern attacker who killed those people.
The Washington Examiner used statistics to disprove the claim that white individuals are the majority of perpetrators of violence against Asians: “According to the Justice Department, 27.5% of all violent crimes against Asian Americans in 2018 were committed by black people. That’s over 50,000 incidents in a single year. White criminals and Asian criminals each accounted for 24.1% of all attacks on Asians. Asian people, similar to their white counterparts, are underrepresented in violent crimes committed to the proportion of the population they make up. In 2019, Asians made up 6.2% of the population but just 1% of the perpetrators of violent crime. White people are 62% of the population but commit 50% of violent crimes.”
Writer Lionel Shriver wrote a recent piece in the Spectator that also bears out this point: “In New York City, of the 20 people arrested last year for hate crimes against Asians, two were white. Eleven were black.”
A brutal attack on a 65-year-old Asian woman by Brandon Elliot, who is black, also puts a spotlight on the truth of the situation. The victim was kicked and stomped four times on a New York City sidewalk in broad daylight and no one helped the woman. He yelled, “F**k you, you don’t belong here!” Elliot has now been arrested. He has been in prison before for stabbing his own mother to death. He got out in 2019.
Update: The black male suspect wanted over the brutal beating of a 65-year-old Asian woman has been arrested & identified as Brandon Elliot. He had been released from prison & is serving parole for killing his own mother. https://t.co/OiRCyaISWW

There have been a number of other similar incidents in the last few weeks. Dr. Eugene Gu seems to be blaming white Americans for the violence.
“Black on Asian crimes only occur because of our system of white supremacy that strips African Americans of their economic opportunities while taking respect and dignity away from Asian Americans. Also, white people in power are experts at dividing and conquering to stay in power,” Gu outrageously tweeted.

He seems to be saying that white people are to blame for black on Asian violence because they have stripped black Americans of economic opportunities. This indicates that black people are not responsible for their actions at all.
Twitter exploded over Gu’s claim:
You realize arguing everyone is just a puppet of white people with no agency of their own is basically a white supremacist theory right?

“We seem to be getting closer and closer to a situation where nobody is responsible for what they did but we are all responsible for what somebody else did.”

This is such a wrong statement. Individuals should be held accountable for their individual actions. If a man shoots his neighbor’s dog should the city be held accountable for allowing people to have dogs? No system is forcing people to commit crimes. People commit crimes period.

How does such an educated, accomplished person peddle such drivel? Because for certain people when the facts contradict their ideology they double down on Ideology & say screw the facts. It’s the opposite of the scientific method.
