Multiple media outlets and media figures responded to the deadly mass shooting at three Atlanta massage parlors by a white suspect by publishing or saying glaringly racist things about white people, with one outlet describing whiteness as a “pandemic.”
Over at The Root, a far-left magazine ostensibly geared toward the black community, a contributor who also writes for The New York Times and has books featured on Amazon published a blatantly racist piece titled “Whiteness Is a Pandemic.”
In the piece, Damon Young automatically assumed the shootings were committed because of anti-Asian hatred and then used this unsubstantiated assumption to blame the actions on former President Donald Trump, Trump supporters and all white people.
“The former president, and the party of the former president, can and should be blamed for this and the sudden increase of racist violence against Asian Americans. The line doesn’t stop there, though. It extends back 400 years and has tentacles clawing everywhere white supremacy exists here, in America, which is everywhere,” he wrote.
As of Thursday morning, the motive for the suspect’s spree hadn’t yet been definitely determined, though all signs pointed to misogyny, not racism. Young’s piece sparked backlash online.
This is the definition of racism. https://t.co/GONPdxsNTj

Imagine if a verifed account tweeted that any other race was a pandemic

Either way, Young’s stunning chutzpah was not appreciated, particularly in light of the fact that the vast majority of recent anti-Asian crimes have reportedly been committed by blacks.
In fact, according to 2018 crime data from the Department of Justice, black-on-Asian crime is far, far, far more common than Asian-on-black crime.
Amid the anti-Asian violence of recent weeks, it appears not a single mainstream media outlet has felt it would be wise to mention these statistics to their audience.
Nor has any outlet apparently mentioned that the leading proponent of anti-Asian sentiment is the Biden administration, which has seemed to undermine the Asian community by promoting affirmative action policies that hurt them to benefit blacks.
Biden declared it acceptable to discriminate against Asian Americans, this is a mainstream Democrat position.https://t.co/Da3kSzcFUp

These policy prescriptions are rooted in the critical race theory propaganda (which the administration also endorses) that Asians are privileged and must therefore be discriminated against for the purposes of effectuating “anti-racism.”
Some of ya’ll are not ready to discuss the correlation between what’s happening to the Asian American community and Ibram Kendi’s ridiculous idea that “discrimination that produces equity is antiracist.”

Sorry let me give the direct quote:
“If discrimination is creating equity, then it is antiracist. ”
Chapter 1 pg 19, paragraph 2. “How to be an antiracist.” And the full quote is even worse.

There have been a spate of attacks on Asian Americans by people of color who perceive Asian Americans as privileged and as having wealth and power. Ibram Kendi EXPLICITLY states that discrimination against those who are overrepresented in wealth and power is valid.

The racist ideas of the left-wing hatemonger mentioned above, Ibram Kendi, have reportedly been adopted by President Joe Biden’s military.
As noted earlier, all signs and evidence currently point to the mass shooting having been motivated by misogyny, not racial hatred. One piece is of evidence is the shooter’s own claim to authorities that’d resented the massage parlor workers because of his sex addiction. Another piece of evidence is the record of this very addiction.
The suspect “spent time in rehabilitation for sexual addiction last year,” CNN reported, citing one of several sources.
The suspect was also “recently kicked out of the house by his family due to his sexual addiction, which, the source said, included frequently spending hours on end watching pornography online,” according to CNN.
Despite these now-known bombshell facts, numerous other media figures and outlets joined Young in focusing their attention on white people, with all of them convinced that the shootings MUST have been rooted in white supremacy.
Look:
“The white man who murdered several Asian women told the police he’s not racist, so it must be true.” -Media, basically
Guys. DO BETTER.

They guy who just murdered six Asian women says it wasn’t racially motivated but maybe we should not just take his word for it
— Judd Legum (@JuddLegum) March 17, 2021
just as we do not take racists’ excuses that they are not saying racist things
— Jennifer ‘pro-voting’ Rubin (@JRubinBlogger) March 17, 2021
So much reporting on this tragedy is going to be trash. It’s a white male perpetrator so the powers that be are going to offer every excuse to minimize his accountability. And our industry is wholly unequipped to write about racism, white supremacy and how that breeds violence
— Dawn Rhodes 😷 (@rhodes_dawn) March 17, 2021
White masculinity fetishizes and dehumanizes asian women and it is intrinsically tied to racism.
It’s crucial that we don’t erase the way that misogyny and racism operate together to justify killing Asian women. https://t.co/yBh8PZg9V5
— Liz Plank (@feministabulous) March 17, 2021
A “sex addiction,” not racism, with no acknowledgment that the fetishization of Asian women is in itself racist. That just by pure bad luck, the shooter happened to choose three Asian-owned businesses. https://t.co/tSb5YfAI3P

Everybody seen above is a media reporter, journalist or commentator, yet they’ve all reached conclusions in stark contradiction of the facts. Is this what contemporary “journalism” looks like? If so, that’s a problem …
