Desperate MSNBC analyst urges Dems to ‘scare the hell’ out of minorities and women voters

In a move that smacked of utter desperation, MSNBC analyst Cornell Belcher urged Democrats to “scare the hell” out of voters by warning them we could “lose” our democracy if Republicans win in the midterms.

Appearing on “Deadline: White House” Wednesday, Belcher responded to failed Democrat candidate Matthew Dowd who suggested that they should fixate on the concept of losing our democracy instead of defending President Joe Biden.

“Campaigns, we got to give them a reason to feel they have skin in the game, that this is important to them, that losing democracy is important to them. And whether or not it be telling women that, you know what, women? You think you’re losing your rights now? What do you think is going to happen if we don’t have democracy?” Belcher asked, ramping up impressive fearmongering to get disenfranchised Democrats to vote.

“You know what, African American men who are showing the lowest motivation to turn out in this midterm, you think things are tough for you right now? Where do you think you’re going to stand in a country in America where there’s no democracy, where they have absolutely no interest at all in respecting your rights?” he posited, doubling down with a contrived political fear factor.

“We’ve got to let these people understand they’ve got skin in this game, and we’ve got to scare the hell out of them because quite frankly, they should be afraid that we’re going to lose our democracy,” he railed.

“Because that’s what’s on the line,” host Nicolle Wallace stated in agreement with Belcher’s premise.

Belcher went on to state that “2022 is going to be the most consequential election of our time.”

Dowd also promoted the idea that Democrats should focus on “the fate of our democracy” rather than on historic, crushing inflation.

“I know they’re worried about inflation. I know they’re worried about gas prices, but if this is a race about those things, they lose. If this is a race about the fate of our democracy and I’m not a person that, you know, that’s prone to hyperbole. It really is about the fate of our democracy,” Dowd said lacking total self-awareness and dismissing the fact that the midterms are now solely about the economy, according to a number of polls.

Belcher’s comments mirrored those of his colleague John Heilemann who stated in April on MSNBC that Democrats have to “scare the crap out of” their voting base to win elections. The sentiment that fear is the only weapon Democrats have left to motivate liberals to vote for them seems to have gone mainstream among leftists.

“They have to scare the crap out of [the Democratic base] and get them to come out,” Heilemann said at the time. “[The Democrats] can’t motivate them on the basis of hope or their pocketbooks or any of these accomplishments. They have to scare the crap out of them.”

Television leftist personality and MSNBC commentator Donny Deutsch also told MSNBC in May, “We don’t have the economy on our side as Democrats. So you have to scare the bejesus out of people — and a way to scare them, to say, ‘You know this Replacement Theory, this is not just coming from some dark corner of the web, this is the Republican platform.'”

Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) is also crying gloom and doom over the midterm elections, using weaponized fear just as other Democrats are continuing to do ahead of the elections.

“It would also embolden Republicans and the far-right, and white nationalists across the country to begin to believe that it is their time to not just take power in the House, but the Senate, the White House, and state houses across the country, and we gotta understand that this is a group that has been radicalized by the Great Replacement myth and many other things and have been pushing for violence and pushing for even civil war,” he warned.

“So that is what is at stake right now in terms of this election,” he apocalyptically stated. “Our democracy is hanging by a thread, and black and brown people, our lives are in the balance if these people come back into power.”

Scaring women in particular is something Democrats have been zeroing in on. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) went on an unhinged rant in June bashing pro-life Republicans over anti-abortion laws and drawing a “direct through-line” between support for the sanctity of life by conservatives and rape culture.

Instilling fear in the Democratic base is right out of the leftist playbook. It’s either that or throw in the towel over the midterms because just about everyone is now predicting that Democrats are going to get a historic thrashing in this year’s elections.
