During a hearing in the House chambers on Thursday, Representative Troy Nehls of the great state of Texas singled out House Speaker Nancy Pelosi for failing in her oversight of the security of the Capitol in 2020.
He also called out the so-called “January 6 Committee” for not investigating the failures of the US Capitol Police on that day.
In his speech on the House floor, Nehls mentioned an internal intelligence briefing that was prepared on January 3, 2021, wherein federal intelligence agencies warned about the potential for violent activity at the January 6 protests at the Capitol.
These January 6th Committee’s hearings are a waste of Congress’s time and the taxpayers’ money.
The truth is January 6th should never have happened.
If the committee truly cared about January 6th, then they would investigate the negligent leadership of the Capitol Police…

…instead of trying to injure President Trump ahead of 2024.
Capitol Police had the intelligence and they refused to act on it, but that’s not the SHAM committee’s concern.
President Trump will be the nominee and they know they can’t beat him.
That’s what this is all about.

“‘Congress itself is the target,'” Nehls read from the intelligence briefing. “‘There has been a worrisome call for protestors to come to these events armed, and there is a possibility that protestors may be inclined to become violent. Propensity to attract white supremacists, militia members, and others, who actively promote violence, may lead to a significantly dangerous situation for law enforcement, and the general public alike.'”
This warning was issued only three days prior to the events that occurred on January 6, 2021, and the briefing was shared with the US Capitol Police, which is responsible for security at the Capitol building and surrounding grounds.
“So, why didn’t [the Capitol Police] request the National Guard?” Nehls asked the speaker during his speech.
“A couple of months ago,” Nehls continued, “I had the opportunity to question then-DC National Guard Commander General Walker. Now he is the House Sergeant-at-Arms. I asked General Walker, I said ‘General, if the National Guard would have been at our nation’s Capitol on January 4th, as the intelligence called for, would January 6th have ever happened, and he said ‘no.’ And I agree general, I agree.”
“Capitol Police leaders had the intelligence days and weeks in advance, and did nothing with it. They let it happen folks, the Capitol Police leadership team failed, and this sham committee continues to give them a pass.”
The representative then directed his attention toward the laughable January 6 Committee.
“These hearings,” he said, “are clearly not about finding the truth. They are a sad attempt to put the blame on Donald Trump. This committee, make no mistake, this committee doesn’t want to see Donald Trump as the Republican nominee in 2024, because they can’t beat him.”

Nehls concluded his speech by observing that Democrats cannot win an election “fairly,” but they’ll use “every dirty trick in the book and try to cheat their way to a win.” Even so, the Texas representative was confident that the American people can see through the “sham,” and would have their voices heard in November.
Let’s hope he’s right.
