Dramatic new photos of kids being rescued, shooter said ‘goodnight,’ played ‘sad’ music before firing, 11-year-old recalls

One of the survivors of the Robb Elementary School shooting, Miah Cerrillo, told a reporter in an interview that the killer who slaughtered 19 children and two teachers told the teacher “goodnight” just before he killed her and blasted “sad” music before executing students.

The child would only speak to a female reporter at CNN because she allegedly fears men after the shooting and would not allow herself to be recorded. She “wanted to share her story so people can know what it’s like to live through a school shooting” and “help prevent a tragedy like this from happening to other children,” the child told the media outlet.

As the fourth-graders watched “Lilo & Stitch” Tuesday in what would have been their last week in school, their two soon-to-be deceased teachers, Eva Mireles and Irma Garcia received an email alert that there was an active shooter in the building, according to Cerrillo.

One of the teachers went to the classroom door “and he was right there — they made eye contact,” the child told CNN. She said “it just happened all so fast. He backed the teacher into the classroom. He made eye contact with the teacher, again, looked her right in the eye and said ‘goodnight’ and then shot her and killed her.” He then allegedly quickly dispatched the other teacher before executing the children.

After the initial volley of shots, Ramos headed into the adjoining classroom and Cerrillo heard screams as more of her friends were slaughtered.

The “sad” music he played when entering the classroom “sounded like ‘I want people to die’ music,” the fourth-grader claimed.

Cerrillo went into survival mode when the killer came calling, recounting how she smeared herself with a nearby friend’s blood and laid on top of her so she would appear dead and it saved her life. The child lost track of time and thought she had been in the classroom for three hours when it had only been one.

The child and a friend grabbed a cellphone that belonged to one of their dead teachers to call 911.

She told CNN that she begged the 911 dispatcher, “Please come, please come — we’re in trouble!”

“I heard the grownups later say the police were outside and that they weren’t coming in,” the child reportedly told CNN. “Why didn’t they come in, why didn’t they save us?”

Cerillo is still suffering from the trauma of the killing and has wounds from bullet fragments in her shoulders, back, and head. She is unable to sleep and clumps of her hair are reportedly falling out due to the horror she went through.

Texas Department of Public Safety Director Steve McCraw stated that the shooter could have been in the school for 40 minutes to an hour.

He purportedly came out of a classroom closet and opened fire when US Border Patrol agents entered the room more than an hour after the shooting began, a source told CNN on Friday. The shooter was then killed by the agents.

New pictures are emerging from the Uvalde Leader-News showing crying children fleeing the school as the shooter started killing their classmates. Other photos show police officers pulling children from windows to escape the killing spree.

The chilling images are surfacing as Uvalde police officers are coming under scrutiny for their handling of the mass shooting. Reports are coming out that a commander held back a Border Patrol tactical team in a hallway and allegedly made a mistake in choosing not to take down the shooter sooner.

McCraw admitted that the police mistakenly changed the approach to the standoff from an open shooter situation to a “barricaded suspect” situation which potentially cost the lives of children

“With the benefit of hindsight, where I’m sitting now, of course, it was not the right decision, it was the wrong decision, period,” he told reporters at a news conference on Friday. “There was no excuse for that.”

Videos appear to show desperate parents pleading with officers to storm the building, as officers stood outside. A number of parents either went into the building despite being told not to or were prepared to do so.

The Uvalde Leader-News is the same media outlet that went to print with an iconic all-black front page with the date of the massacre in white swimming as a headline.

The victims of the shooting include the two teachers, Mireles and Garcia; Uziyah Garcia, 8; Makenna Elrod, 10; Jose Flores Jr. 10; Rojelio Torres, 10; Xavier Lopez, 10; Amerie Jo Garza, 10; Annabelle Guadalupe Rodriguez, 10; Elijah Cruz Torres, 10; Eliahna Garcia, 10; Jayce Carmelo Luevanos, 10; Jaliah Nicole Silguero, 10; Tess Mata, 10; Alexandria Aniyah Rubio, 10; Jackie Cazares, 10; Nevaeh Bravo, 10; Layla Salazar, 11; Alithea Ramirez, 10; Maite Yuleana Rodriguez, 10; and Miranda Mathis, 11 according to Fox News.
