You know your city has a problem when Charles Barkley starts ragging on it.
And that’s just what happened on Tuesday night. The retired Hall of Famer and host of “NBA on TNT” didn’t mince his words while in Dallas for Game 4 of the playoff series between the Mavericks and the Golden State Warriors. The Mavericks, in case you’re keeping track, scored a 119-109 win over the Warriors.
At one point, however, the game encountered a delay during a rainstorm, which caused a leak in the roof of the American Airlines Center where the game was being held. That’s when Barkley couldn’t resist trash-talking the Warriors’ hometown.
“You know the bad thing about all this rain?” he asked. Without a doubt, fellow hosts Shaquille O’Neal, Ernie Johnson, and Kenny Smith foresaw what was coming.
“It’s not raining in San Francisco to clean off those dirty ass streets,” Barkley continued, answering his own question.
“It’s a great city,” he admitted. “But all that dirtiness & homelessness—y’all gotta clean that off the streets…San Francisco needs a good washing.”

Of course, he wasn’t wrong, and Barkley’s observations elicited a spirited defense of the City by the Bay from his co-hosts. It’s not an easy thing to do, given the unchecked homelessness and vagrancy that plagues the city’s streets, and has made the city a byword on account of the cruel, failed liberal policies enacted by its leftist elites.
After all, the Sa Francisco has its own app dedicated to mapping the prevalence of feces on its streets. It’s called “SnapCrap.”
When the broadcast image shifted to a live scene outside the Chase Center in San Francisco, where the Warriors play their home games, Kenny Smith observed that the scene “looks beautiful.”
Barkley was unimpressed. “That’s the good part of San Francisco,” he said. “Unfortunately TNT put us in the bad part.”
That was presumably a reference to the fact that, although Barkley and his co-hosts stay in swanky Nob Hill when they’re in San Francisco, it’s not too far from the decidedly less-swanky Tenderloin district.
It’s not the first time Barkley has taken shots at the Golden Gate City. Apparently, there’s bad blood between Sir Charles and fans of the Warriors, and Barkley never misses an opportunity to stick it to them.
According to the Daily Mail, an exchange last week between Barkley and some Warriors fans led the former basketball player to explain in graphic language his plans for an intimate encounter with their mothers—or perhaps he should have said “birthing bodies,” to use the correct woke nomenclature currently in use in places like San Francisco.
“Hey, you guys,” he shouted, in response to their heckling during a commercial break, “leave me alone or I’ll come to your house and f*** your mama!”

The heckling was probably justified, given that Barkley informed Draymond Green of the Warriors “I don’t dislike the [San Francisco] area, I hate the area.”
“The area hates you,” Green rejoined, jokingly.
Charles Barkley undoubtedly enjoys playing the villain in San Francisco, but that doesn’t mean his digs at the city aren’t true. Its filthy streets could certainly use a good washing.
