Like ideologue moths to their rhetorical flames, the left can’t help but pivot everything toward an agenda-driven talking point, and President Joe Biden set the standard Saturday when he concluded “white nationalist ideology” was behind the Buffalo shooting after conceding the motivations had yet to be determined.
Payton Gendron, 18, was charged with first-degree murder Saturday evening after he allegedly opened fire at a Buffalo, NY grocery store, killing 10 and wounding three others. By all early indications the attack appeared to be “racially motivated” after it was reported the suspect had a 180 page manifesto online outlining his intent and inspirations.
However, our justice system demands that a full investigation be conducted and it is difficult to derive any other conclusion from Biden’s official statement so early in the process save for an attempt to foment more of the hate he was seeking to suppress. After issuing prayers and condolences for the lives lost and those impacted by the tragedy, he promptly pivoted to his soapbox.
“We still need to learn more about the motivation for today’s shooting as law enforcement does its work,” Biden stated sensibly, before adding, “but we don’t need anything else to state a clear moral truth: A racially motivated hate crime is abhorrent to the very fabric of this nation.”
The president’s statement went on, “Any act of domestic terrorism, including an act perpetrated in the name of a repugnant white nationalist ideology, is antithetical to everything we stand for in America. Hate must have no safe harbor. We must do everything in our power to end hate-fueled domestic terrorism.”
In and of itself, there is nothing wrong with what Biden is saying on the subject of white nationalism and domestic terrorism. Unfortunately, the presumptive timing of the comments only open the door for more hateful rhetoric to potentially incite further violence.
Take Rachel Vindman for example. Wife of retired U.S. Army Lt. Col. Alexander Vindman — who was at the center of Trump’s first impeachment — and podcaster, she wasted little time in turning the senseless deaths of nearly a dozen people into an assault on former President Donald Trump and his supporters.

Many were quick to zero in on the poor timing of such an angle and suggested a lesson on decorum could be learned here.
