Mark Levin: Why the New York Times is ‘worse than fake news’

Renowned constitutionalist Mark Levin pointed out on his show “Life, Liberty & Levin” that most Americans don’t realize that The New York Times’ politically biased news coverage of the Holocaust and other historic events has made it far “worse than fake news.”

“This is a show about The New York Times. Aspects of the New York Times you don’t know about and you haven’t heard about and you haven’t been taught about. I’ve been studying this for a long time… a number of professors, and scholars, and experts, and researchers have written extensively about the New York Times and yet it is censored, don’t talk about it. It’s the paper of record, it’s the gold standard, it’s the coin of the realm. All the news that’s fit to print,” he explained, opening his segment.

“And yet, day in and day out, this newspaper attacks the foundation principles of this country. Day in and day out, it pushes this radical American-Marxist agenda. This is a corporation. What do we know about this corporation?” Levin asked.

It’s worse than fake news. It tried to take down an elected president, Donald Trump. It tried to push him out of office, supported both impeachments, supported criminal investigation, still supports these various prosecutors who are investigating the former president. And on and on and on. [It has also pushed] [t]he 1619 Project, which seeks to undermine our nation’s history and every one of these radical agenda items pushed by the New York Times,” he asserted.

“Well, we need to know a little bit more about the New York Times. As I said, it’s worse than fake news. The New York Times has been an extremely destructive force in this country and outside this country,” the conservative scholar charged.

“In 1984, Dr. David S. Wyman’s book ‘The Abandonment of the Jews,’ about the Holocaust, explained that one reason ordinary Americans were not more responsive to the plight of the European Jews during the Holocaust was that very many, probably a majority were unaware of Hitler’s extermination program until well into 1944 or later. The information was not readily available to the public because the mass media treated the systematic murder of millions of Jews as though it were minor news,” Levin recounted.

“And Mr. Wyman was not Jewish, but he just looked at this and was appalled by it and in 1984 looked back. ‘Yet, on November 24, 1942, unambiguous evidence of the Nazis’ ongoing extermination of European Jews was made publicly available, but was largely ignored by the media. Lack of solid press coverage in the weeks immediately following [November 24]… muffled the historic news at the outset,'” he noted.

“In the United States, Wyman asserted, two or three clear statements from Franklin Roosevelt would have moved this news into public view and would have kept it there for some time. But the president was not so inclined nor did Washington reporters press him. In retrospect, it seems almost unbelievable that in Roosevelt’s press conferences, normally held twice a week, not one word was spoken about the mass killing of European Jews until almost a year later,” Levin continued.

“The president had nothing to say to reporters on the matter and no correspondents asked him about it,” he added. “Surely the New York Times, with its wide reach, resources, access to foreign sources of information, reputation as the foremost newspaper in the country, large Jewish readership, and its Jewish ownership would do everything possible to investigate and disclose the horror of Jewish genocide. But the opposite was true.”

“Wyman explained that the New York Times, Jewish owned but anxious not to be seen as Jewish-oriented, was the premier newspaper of the era. It printed a substantial amount of information on Holocaust-related events, but almost always buried it in the inner pages,” Levin said.

“And the Washington Post? The Jewish-owned Washington Post printed a few editorials advocating rescue but only infrequently carried the European news reports on the Jewish situation. And the other Washington newspapers provided similarly limited information on the mass murder of European Jewry. And most of the other press, outside of New York and Washington, press coverage was even thinner,” he remarked.

“Fake news? That’s worse than fake,” Levin concluded.
