Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy once again put White House press secretary Jen Psaki on the hot seat Monday, asking her if she or the Biden administration would apologize to Border Patrol agents who were unjustly accused of whipping Haitian migrants near the US-Mexico border last year.

“And one additional question about something that happened a few months ago down at the border… We’ve been told that the mounted Border Patrol officers the president accused of whipping migrants have been notified they will not face criminal charges. So, when is the president going to apologize to them?” Doocy asked at a White House press briefing.

“There is a process and an investigation that’s gone to the Department of Homeland Security. I don’t have any update on that,” Psaki deflected.

The president said that they were whipping people, which would be a criminal offense, and they’ve been told they’re not gonna be criminally charged,” the Fox News reporter added.

“And there was an investigation into that and I’ll let the Department of Homeland Security announce any conclusion of that investigation,” Psaki answered, dodging the question once again.

“You accused these officers of ‘brutal and inappropriate measures.’ Now that they’ve been told they will not be criminally charged, will you apologize to them?” Doocy pressed.

“And Peter, there was an investigation into their behavior. So, that investigation is playing out. Whenever it’s going to be announced, the Department of Homeland Security will announce that and I’m sure we’ll have a comment on it after that,” she replied, doggedly refusing to answer Doocy’s questions much less apologize.

In September, Border Patrol agents on horseback in Del Rio, Texas were vilified for using their horse reigns to allegedly whip migrants while blocking them from illegally crossing the border. Misleading images were offered up as proof of abuse. What they purportedly showed was a long-used technique for controlling horses so they would not harm the immigrants.

The media and many Democrats ran with the abuse angle, playing up the “whipping” accusations and even invoking imagery of slavery to make the agents look as contemptible as possible. So did the White House and Psaki. She called the actions of the Border Patrol agents “brutal and inappropriate” behavior at the time.

Now that the allegations have been debunked and the agents have been notified that no charges will be forthcoming, an apology by President Joe Biden and his administration is being sought by those defending the agents.

“We understand and agree that this has been an incredibly heart-wrenching issue,” Psaki claimed when the allegations surfaced. “We’ve watched the photos of Haitians gathering under a bridge, many with families, and the horrific video of the CBP officers on horses using brutal and inappropriate measures against innocent people.”

Biden was even more aggressive in going after the agents, saying “those people will pay.”

“There will be an investigation underway now and there will be consequences,” Biden vowed. “There will be consequences.”

“I take responsibility,” he said. “It was horrible to see, to see people treated like they did, with horses nearly running them over. People being strapped. It’s outrageous.”

The agents were put on desk duty pending an outcome of the investigation and hopefully will now be able to resume their duties.

The New York Post is reporting that the Biden administration has compiled a 500-page report on the investigation into the Border Patrol agents’ actions that day.

“No one knows what’s in the report,” National Border Patrol Council President Brandon Judd stated. “I don’t know what’s in it. As of yesterday afternoon, the chief of the Border Patrol didn’t know what’s in it.”

“I’ve never seen a 500-page report where no one did anything wrong,” he added.
