Fifteen GOP U.S. House members want an update on the U.S. Department of Justice investigation into Hunter Biden, President Biden’s son.

“[L]egal questions plaguing Hunter Biden continue to arise and cast doubt on President Joe Biden and his administration…It is imperative that the Department of Justice brief Congress on the nature of Mr. Weiss’s investigation into Hunter Biden,” the lawmakers wrote to Biden-appointed Attorney General Merrick Garland, Fox News reported.

“Congress has a constitutional obligation to conduct oversight of the Executive Branch and a moral obligation to examine if the President of the United States or any senior official in his administration is ethically compromised or injured,” they added.

Signatories of the letter included U.S. Reps. Bob Good (R-Va.), as well as high-profile MAGA stalwarts such as Marjorie Taylor Green (R-Ba.) and Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) as well as Chip Roy (R-Tex.), who separately has become more and more outspoken against the left’s radical agenda, along with Freedom Caucus chair Andy Biggs (R-Az.).

The younger Biden is reportedly under an investigation by the aforementioned David Weiss, the U.S. Attorney in Delaware, for alleged influence-peddling in Ukraine, China, and elsewhere. A grand jury has reportedly been empaneled as part of the probe. Weiss took office during the Trump administration and was one of the few, or perhaps only, U.S. Attorney nominated by the prior president who is still in place. (Former U.S. Attorney John Durham is still plugging away as a special counsel appointed by ex-AG Bill Barr investigating Russia-gate.)

Both Bidens have denied any improprieties. It is complete speculation at this point whether the DOJ investigation will result in any civil or criminal violations or liability for anyone.

“The GOP lawmakers said Congress needs to be informed of the DOJ’s inquiry into Hunter Biden’s alleged profitable relationships with foreign nationals in China, Serbia, Ukraine, and Kazakhstan. They also homed in on Hunter Biden’s alleged sources of income from Ukrainian natural-gas company Burisma, Chinese company CEFC, his laptop containing ‘potentially compromising material,’ and his efforts to help White House chief of staff Ron Klain raise $20,000 for the Vice President’s Residence Foundation,” Fox News added.

Earlier this week, nearly 100 Republican lawmakers in the House separately called upon Garland to appoint a special counsel to investigate the incumbent president’s son in this context to avoid an actual conflict of interest, or the appearance of one, in the law enforcement agency controlled by the Biden administration.

According to the Washington Examiner, “Hunter revealed he was under federal investigation for his taxes shortly after the 2020 election, and he is reportedly being scrutinized for potential money laundering, as well as for possible foreign lobbying violations under the Foreign Agents Registration Act.”

Email and other material on the device revolving around Hunter Biden’s sketchy business dealings was originally dismissed as Russian disinformation when the New York Post broke the story prior to the 2020 election, which was then suppressed by Big Tech.

Legacy media organizations such as The New York Times and The Washington Post have, however, belatedly confirmed that potentially incriminating information on Hunter Biden’s laptop, the so-called laptop from hell, is authentic.

This has prompted other media outlets such as CNN to gingerly cover the controversy.
