CNN anchor Jake Tapper is trying to position himself as a peacemaker to end the standoff between Twitter and the New York Post.
The social media network locked the Post‘s account for doing actual journalism, which is a rare commodity in the corporate media these days, about Hunter Biden allegedly selling access to his dad, Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden.
Tapper is facing massive blowback, however, for essentially trying to broker a deal that urges America’s longest-running newspaper to capitulate to Big Tech.
In a series of tweets today, Tapper claimed a Twitter exec told him that the impasse about the Biden laptop scandal could end if the Post would just delete the tweets that upset the censorship-loving woke scolds and then tweet them out again. Jack Dorsey also put forth this illogical solution when testifying remotely before the U.S. Senate on Wednesday, October 28.
Big tech platforms have been under fire for the alleged censoring of mainly politically right-leaning content, often using vague terms of service violations that arguably are rarely applied to the left. Twitter has also been accused of throttling hashtags that don’t conform to the leftist agenda and artificially elevating those that do. Twitter has denied that it blocks content based on political beliefs, despite the recent suspension of U.S. Border chief Mark Morgan’s Twitter account for posting a glowing update on the border wall.
Twitter has also blocked tweets and suspended accounts that linked to the Post article.
Tapper is a liberal that works for a TV channel that often operates like a 24/7, anti-Trump, pro-Biden infomercial. That being said, even he seems to acknowledge on some level that Twitter rules, which may constitute an oxymoron, are subjectively enforced.
2/ I asked a twitter exec if this was possible, he said yes and it would end the whole thing. Probably take 15 seconds.

3/ And yes twitter could end this immediately as well given that these rules are no longer rules. I’m just suggesting a possible way to end this. ✌️ pic.twitter.com/1ZfV8E45dS

Sohrab Ahmari, the Post’s Op-ed rejected Tapper’s premise, however. “We have more honor and principle than others, I suppose. Our reporting was never based on hacked material to begin,” adding that Dorsey even admitted no evidence existed that the Post accessed hacked material.
Ahmari was apparently alluding to the storyline immediately pushed by the Democrats and the Biden-protecting media that the email trove consisted of Russian disinformation, even though Team Biden has never denied its authenticity.
Under oath, Twitter’s CEO, @jack, mumbled through his Rasputin/hobo beard that his firm had — and still has — zero evidence we used hacked material.@jaketapper, as a reporter, why don’t you show an iota of solidarity with America’s oldest daily?

Liberal Twitter is still pushing the Russia propaganda narrative as well as accusing the Post, and conservatives generally, of hypocritically claiming victim status.
An all-star team of well-informed free-speech advocates on Twitter, such as James Woods and Mollie Hemingway, among others, who follow current events see the situation for what it really is and are blowing up, figuratively speaking, of course, Tapper’s phone.
Jake Tapper is telling you that he would tell political prisoners to be reasonable and simply sign the false confession so all their problems could go away. This is vile and disgusting and reprehensible from any member of the press. https://t.co/XObO8bxo8X

The tweets didn’t break the rules https://t.co/Mvu68pI1zB

The NY Post Should NOT delete anything
They did nothing wrong
Twitter is at fault and must reconcile https://t.co/SftqGTG15P
— Tim Pool (@Timcast) October 30, 2020
And why can’t Twitter simply not be petty and lift the block? https://t.co/WJGW4vBvAu
— Scott Whitlock (@ScottJW) October 30, 2020
Why should they delete a story that is true? Would you? https://t.co/6EvcQRssGS
— David Harsanyi (@davidharsanyi) October 30, 2020
Whatever you do for the rest of your career, Jake, we will always remember when you shrugged and said to a fellow journalist, ‘All you have to do is delete your work and they’ll give you your account back.’ https://t.co/eZMaLP5K5p

“Shut Up & Kiss The Twitter Ring” is Jake Tapper’s solution to press censorship. Wow. https://t.co/PF29KTP9cB

This plea for mewling submission to Big Tech is so on brand for CNN. https://t.co/9uB63u2H8Q

Way to stand in solidarity with your fellow journalists, Jake. Way to stand up for press freedom. Inspiring. https://t.co/JbZf9AaQUp

NYPost must be taught a lesson. They violated a rule that is no longer a rule. And to pay for it, they must comply with the rule that no longer exists.
Totally normal, reasonable, makes complete sense.
(It doesn’t.) https://t.co/oOPXtA2aXZ

How about instead of that, Twitter just reactivates the account? https://t.co/d1hBD1drOF
— Omri Ceren (@omriceren) October 30, 2020
NY Post should not have to delete its tweet even if the action is symbolic. By doing so, Twitter is getting the paper to agree that it committed a wrong by posting the article. It’s a move that only the power hungry insecure nerds who moderate Silicon Valley websites get off on. https://t.co/BIfmWaqStB

IMHO, @Jack Dorsey and Tapper’s solution is Orwellian. Plus, it’s a violation of customer appreciation. Take care of your customer or someone else will. Just ask MySpace.

RIP: Jake Tapper’s credibility as a journalist. https://t.co/Zc3SeSnGmr
