The granddaughter of Disney’s co-founder Roy Disney, Abigail Disney, appeared on CNN’s “Reliable Sources” with host Brian Stelter in an attempt to discredit conservatives who are speaking out against Disney’s attack on Gov. Ron DeSantis’ “Parental Rights in Education” bill.

“These GOP media stars can claim they’re just protecting kids,” Stelter disingenuously stated. “But they are also demonizing gay teachers and condemning inclusive Disney shows.”

“Disney seems like the biggest target because it’s so woven into families,” she told Stelter. “And so if you can create this idea that somebody’s in there trying to indoctrinate your child, my goodness, the paranoid imagination can run circles with that.”

She called the criticism of teaching little children adult sexually-oriented topics such as gender-fluidity and transgenderism “absurd.” She also mocked those who have labeled it “grooming.”

DeSantis’ press secretary Christina Pushaw was less than impressed, slamming Stelter for giving Disney — whom she dubbed a “left-wing crank” — a platform to “spread disinformation.”

“The thing that Disney stands for more than anything, in every film and especially in the animation – [whether] there’s a gay character or not – is love and acceptance and family and joy. So they’re trying to inject something into what Disney does, that has nothing to do with what Disney does,” she proclaimed.

“What is their theory of change exactly? Because if you were to erase every reference to gayness and gay people from the planet, which is sort of what the ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill feels like, will children not become gay? Do they need to be recruited and groomed or are people just gay?” she charged.

As Pushaw noted in an earlier tweet, the legislation doesn’t mention the word gay and is designed to protect K-3 students from sexual instruction in the classroom.

Disney also claimed that DeSantis’ bill is an “ineffective” way of silencing the gay community, because “if you go back through history, there’s been gay people whether or not the word was ever spoken.”

“It’s an attempt to push history backward, and it denies the fact that everyone – conservative or not – has a gay friend or transgender family member. We’re all in it together now, and I think it’s all of our fight,” the leftist mogul declared to an attentive Stelter, who didn’t bother to fact-check his guest.

“This attack against Disney was so timed and rolled out so strategically that it was really hard for me to imagine that it didn’t come from a series of decisions that got made in the background,” Disney charged. “You can’t claim neutrality if you’re supporting the people who write these laws. But on top of it, there is no neutrality anymore.”

Florida HB 1557, the “Parental Rights in Education” bill, also misnomered by the left as the “Don’t Say Gay” bill, prohibits primary school teachers from teaching sexual orientation and gender identity and requires that teachers at all grade levels follow “age appropriate or developmentally appropriate” material.

Gov. Ron DeSantis said, “We will make sure that parents can send their kids to school to get an education, not an indoctrination.”

Abigail Disney, who obtained a Master’s degree and doctorate from Yale, Stanford University, and Columbia University respectively, is currently a documentary filmmaker and allegedly has no connection with the family business.
