Could corporate virtue signaling lead to real-world consequences?
The employer of the New York City woman who authorities say was pushed by a vagrant in front of an oncoming subway train reportedly donated up to $50,000 last year to a homeless advocacy group that perhaps wanted to make the transit system more inclusive.
In the heinous crime that occurred on Saturday morning, January 15, a homeless man with a criminal record, and who some media outlets have described as mentally ill, allegedly shoved Michelle Go, 40, a senior manager at multinational consulting firm Deloitte, into the path of the train at the Times Square station in midtown Manhattan.
Deloitte reportedly contributed the cash to the Urban Justice Center, which also gets money from George Soros.
The Urban Justice Center apparently is funded primarily by large government grants.
“In February 2021, the Urban Justice Center along with a homeless man and another non-profit, sued the [Metropolitan Transit Authority], saying its new transit code of conduct — adopted in 2020 because of the pandemic — had ‘the effect of excluding homeless New Yorkers from the subway system.’ The rules barred people from staying in a subway station for more than an hour…,” the New York Post reported.
According to the Post, “Doug Lasdon, the executive director of the Urban Justice Center, [said] that homeless should have the same access to the subway ‘that I have.'”
“A spokeswoman for Deloitte did not immediately return requests for comment,” the Post added.

“Simon Martial, 61, who was charged with second-degree murder, told reporters that he committed the senseless act ‘because I’m God, I can do it.’ Martial’s sister Josette Simon told outlets that he had been battling with schizophrenia for two decades and that he belonged in a mental health facility,” the Daily Mail claimed.
A candlelight vigil was held in Go’s memory on Tuesday evening, January 18, in Times Square.
Democrat Mayor Eric Adams, who campaigned for the job in large part on restoring law and order in the city, claims that even he feels unsafe when commuting by subway, although he travels with armed NYPD bodyguards.

In a lengthy statement, Deloitte asserted, in part, that “We are shocked and profoundly saddened by the devastating loss of our colleague in this senseless and horrific act of violence. Our hearts go out to Michelle’s family and friends and we are doing all we can to support them during this terribly painful time…We are also in the process of evaluating how best Deloitte can honor Michelle’s life by making significant contributions to causes in the community that she selflessly devoted so much of her energy to advance.”
In a city where cops arrest people who try to enter restaurants or museums without a COVID-19 vaccine card, Adams’ crime crackdown faces some obstacles.
This includes a Manhattan D.A. (elected with the assistance of Soros campaign contributions) who is unenthusiastic about prosecuting lawbreakers, and the state’s so-called ball reform law that amounts to catch and release even for recidivists.
Just a few weeks into the Adams administration, transit crimes alone have reportedly surged by nearly 66 percent.
Separately, rookie NYPD cop Jason Rivera was tragically killed by a gunman on Friday night when responding to a domestic incident call in the upper Manhattan neighborhood of Harlem.
