Congressman Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) is trending currently and not in a good way after he got into a confrontation during a town hall Monday night with a young girl who questioned him on a quote where he allegedly referred to Jesus as a hero archetype and not a real person.

“The important thing is that we have societal hero archetypes that we look up to. Jesus is a hero archetype, Superman is a hero archetype. Real characters too, you know, I put, I could name a thousand … You know, know Rosa Parks, Ronald Reagan, all of these people embody certain attributes that the American people think ‘This is good,’” Crenshaw said in 2020, according to the National File.

The young woman at the Montgomery County Tea Party meeting Monday informed Crenshaw that she couldn’t wrap her head around his statement where he apparently equated Jesus with Superman and lumped Him in with fictional heroes. Some claim the girl is 10-years-old while others say she is 18. Jameson Ellis who is running for Congress claims he spoke with her after the town hall meeting and she is 18.

Instead of defusing the tense exchange, Crenshaw snapped at the girl, stating, “Well, I’ll help you. Put a period after Jesus and don’t question my faith.” The crowd loudly booed him after that. The congressman then attempted to soften the rebuke by saying, “Don’t question my faith.” Unfortunately, the damage was done in the eyes of his Christian constituents.

Crenshaw, a retired Navy SEAL, started off as a conservative firebrand who was hugely popular but has seemingly misstepped a number of times engendering anger among his base.

He previously called Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) a “Democrat” when she said, “he’s hurting our (conservative) brand.”

“No, FEMA should not set up testing sites to check for Omicron sneezes, coughs, and runny noses. And we don’t need FEMA in hospitals, they should hire back all the unvaccinated HCW they fired … He needs to stop calling himself conservative, he’s hurting our brand,” Greene stated, according to Business Insider.

“Hey Marjorie, if suggesting we should follow Trump policy instead of Biden mandates makes you mad, then you might be a Democrat – or just an idiot,” Crenshaw shot back.

He has also received blowback for referring to some Republicans as liars and grifters.

And then there is his defense of Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) who sought to impeach former President Trump and is on the Jan. 6 panel going after conservative protesters.

He has also told Republicans that the 2020 presidential election was “absolutely not” stolen, adding they should not “kid” themselves into believing otherwise.

Crenshaw was slammed on social media for his response:
