Crenshaw takes MAGA heat after he’s confronted on 2020 election, tells GOP not to ‘kid’ themselves

U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw is being challenged after telling Republican voters that the 2020 presidential election was “absolutely not” stolen, adding they should not “kid” themselves into believing otherwise.

A video clip posted to social media on Wednesday features the Texas Republican pushing back against claims that widespread vote fraud and other dirty tricks led to former President Donald Trump’s loss to President Joe Biden.

“There’s certain states with problems, but don’t kid yourself into believing that’s why we lost, it’s not. It’s not,” he said.

“You’re wrong,” a man off-camera says in response.

“I’m not wrong,” Crenshaw fired back.

“I have plenty of proof,” the man replied. “Plenty of proof in Arizona, Pennsylvania, and Georgia.”

The Texas Republican appeared to respond mockingly by mentioning the ballot audit in Maricopa County, Arizona, that, thus far, has not produced any substantive evidence of widespread vote fraud, though the off-camera man suggested that the evidence will eventually reveal itself and that still will “flip,” presumably for Trump.

“You watch,” the man said.

“It won’t,” Crenshaw shot back. “And you gotta flip all five states to make it…”

“You know how they’re stealing the elections?” the man said.

At that, Crenshaw said he wasn’t going to continue debating the point, adding that anyone who believes “five different states” representing “hundreds of thousands of votes” will eventually be flipped for the former president is bound to be disappointed.

“It’s just something you’ve got to accept. Is there a lot of voter fraud? Yeah, there probably is. Enough that Trump won? Absolutely not. Absolutely not,” he said.

“You’re kidding yourselves,” said Crenshaw.

According to the National File, the confrontation with Crenshaw took place during a fundraiser in Cook County, Ill. The man challenging him was Bobby Piton, “the mathematician who testified at the election integrity hearing in Arizona in November last year,” the outlet reported.

“It is disgusting to hear denials from a sitting do-nothing and intellectually dishonest Congressman in our House of Representatives, Crenshaw, who has done nothing but shill for the democrats and refuse to even see or hear the evidence of fraud,” Piton said in a statement posted on Facebook.

“Crenshaw is so sanctimonious and cocky and represents one of many intellectually dishonest Congressmen in our party who don’t care about freedom and truth,” he noted further. “Liberty loving patriots in Texas needs to jump in and primary Crenshaw!”

Crenshaw, a former Navy SEAL officer who deployed several times during the global war on terror and who lost an eye and nearly all of his vision in an IED explosion in Afghanistan, has cut a controversial figure with Trump supporters in the past.

Shortly after the Nov. 3 election, which saw Crenshaw win his first reelection campaign, he clapped back at newly-elected Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) after she made claims of widespread vote fraud.

“If Trump loses, he loses. It was never an impossible outcome and we must accept the final results when it is over,” Crenshaw noted on Twitter.

“But the unfortunate reality is that there is very little trust in the process, where irregularities have been flagrant and transparency lacking,” he added.

“It should not be partisan to suggest calmly that investigations occur and the court process plays out. Americans need to be sure of the winner and loser. The winners should especially want that,” Crenshaw noted.

“The time to STAND UP for @realDonaldTrump is RIGHT NOW! Republicans can’t back down,” Taylor Greene tweeted in response. “This loser mindset is how the Democrats win. President Trump has fought for us, we have to fight for him. We won’t forget. Trust me.”

That led to a response from Crenshaw and an admonishment.

“Did you even read past the first sentence? Or are you just purposely lying so you can talk tough? No one said give up,” Crenshaw wrote. “I literally said investigate every irregularity and use the courts.

“You’re a member of Congress now, Marjorie. Start acting like one,” he responded.

Others took to social media to rail at Crenshaw ahead of the 2022 midterms, in which he already has a primary challenger named Mike Billand, who bills himself as an “America First” candidate.

Dan Crenshaw is a Trump-hating #RINO. Pass it on,” one user wrote.

“Someone needs to tell Dan Crenshaw that when you build a monster, it will eventually turn on you,” another wrote.

“Trump cult is coming for Dan Crenshaw for telling the truth about Pres Biden winning the election,” said another.
