British troops came to the rescue of Washington Post reporter Susannah George and her colleagues in Afghanistan and helped evacuate them after US forces were ordered not to leave Kabul airport on rescue missions.
George and the Washington Post’s Afghan staff were evacuated by UK troops after they approached the Brits and asked for help in fleeing the Taliban. The British were more than happy to help save their lives. They transported the media personnel to Kabul’s Hamid Karzai Airport via armored cars driven by private security guards.
Roads to the airport are being guarded by UK service personnel against the Taliban and other terrorist forces during evacuation procedures. They are using them to get as many people to the gates of the airport as possible. The UK’s elite Special Air Service (SAS) has been deployed to rescue Britons who are trapped in Afghanistan but they are basically helping anyone they can find.
George’s adventure belies President Biden’s assertion that anyone with an American passport would be allowed to pass through checkpoints. She stated that security surrounding the airport was “crumbling.” She also reported that her Afghan co-worker Tassal and his young daughter were beaten by Taliban fighters while they waited on the civilian side of the airport to catch a flight that never arrived.
“I will never forget how they beat my small daughter,” Tassal told George, showing her a dark blue bruise on his daughter’s side. “They will never change. My country is gone forever.”
On the day that the Washington Post team was scheduled to depart, British troops arrived where she was staying at a security compound. They were there to evacuate a larger group. George asked the British paratroopers to help escort their team to the airport. The Americans weren’t coming and they needed the security to make it there safely.
“Initially, the men were cautious about helping us,” she stated. “We weren’t part of their evacuation, and the officer said they needed sign-off from the US Embassy. But after a few phone calls, they agreed to wave Tassal, another Washington Post employee, and their families through the Taliban checkpoint.”
“I can let your guys through, but ma’am, if you leave them here, it’s just going to put them in more danger,” the soldier told George.
The road that was being used to transport evacuees to the airport was only going to be guarded by the British for a couple of hours until the evacuation was completed.
The Washinton Post team was piled into two rented armored cars for the gauntlet. As they approached the gate to the airport guarded by US soldiers, they passed “half-destroyed vehicles and dozens of desperate families held back by rows of barbed wire,” according to George.
Eventually, they made it through the gate and were led to a makeshift terminal. They later flew out on a C-17 with approximately 300 other passengers on board.
“We have no indication that they haven’t been able to get, in Kabul, through the airport,” Biden asserted at a press conference on Friday.
While the British and the French have been running rescue missions into the heart of Kabul to get people out, American troops have been relegated to the airport and have reportedly been forbidden to assist Americans trying to escape.
Biden is using potential attacks from ISIS as an excuse to not allow US forces to venture outside of the Kabul airport to rescue Americans.
An estimated 50,000 Afghans are desperately trying to get through the gates of the airport to get out of Afghanistan before the Taliban can enslave or kill them. Biden has effectively stranded at least 15,000 Americans behind enemy lines and they are now at risk of being killed, raped, beaten, enslaved, and/or being used as hostages.
Armed Taliban fighters surround the airport. They are mercilessly beating and whipping people, according to reports. They are also reportedly killing some of them. Desperation is so acute that mothers are handing their babies over barbed wire to soldiers in an attempt to save them.
The United States has been given a deadline of September 11 to get everyone out. After that, anything goes. At that point, the British could well be on their own and suspect as much.
Anger is mounting and spreading in the United States over Biden’s refusal to help Americans get out of Afghanistan as the bloody Taliban clamps down.
Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro eviscerated the President for his incompetence and inaction, “Mark this day as the day the United States of America officially fell from grace as the world’s superpower.”
“We were warned you were inept. We knew in our hearts you were. You consistently have had the worst foreign policy strategy and diplomatic responses in recent history,” Pirro concluded. “The truth is, Mr. President, you should not only be impeached as commander-in-chief, you should be court-martialed.”

Colonel Richard Kemp, CBE, formerly in charge of all British military operations in the country, echoed those sentiments on Sunday in an interview with Fox News host Mark Levin.
“I don’t say this lightly and I’ve never said it about anybody else — any other leader in this position. People have been talking about impeaching President Biden,” Kemp commented. “I don’t believe President Biden should be impeached.”
“He’s the commander-in-chief of the U.S. Armed Forces who’s just essentially surrendered to the Taliban,” he contended. “He shouldn’t be impeached. He should be court-martialed for betraying the United States of America and the United States Armed Forces.”
