Ex-British commander: Forget impeaching Biden, as commander in chief he ‘should be court-martialed’

A former British military commander in Afghanistan said he believes that President Joe Biden should not be impeached, as some Republicans have suggested, but rather court-martialed as a failed commander-in-chief for “betraying the United States of America and the United States’ armed forces.”

In an interview set to air Sunday evening, Colonel Richard Kemp, CBE, formerly in charge of all British military operations in the country, also told Fox News host Mark Levin that he believes Biden’s debacle of a pullout has humiliated U.S. armed forces and Americans in general.

Two GOP House members — U.S. Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia and Bob Gibbs of Ohio — have drafted articles of impeachment against Biden, though last week, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., would not commit to impeaching the president if Republicans gained control of the chamber in next year’s midterms, saying he did not want to turn the process into a political exercise.

“I don’t say this lightly and I’ve never said it about anybody else — any other leader in this position. People have been talking about impeaching President Biden,” Kemp said. “I don’t believe President Biden should be impeached.”

“He’s the commander-in-chief of the U.S. armed forces who’s just essentially surrendered to the Taliban,” he added. “He shouldn’t be impeached. He should be court-martialed for betraying the United States of America and the United States armed forces.”

Kemp also noted that Islamist extremists around the world are “celebrating” the debacle in Afghanistan, including Pakistani President Imran Khan whose country supported the Taliban throughout the 20-year conflict “while being paid by America and Britain.”

The former British commander predicted that Islamic terrorist groups like Hama will be “reinvigorated” by the American withdrawal, seen as a defeat and that recruitment to replenish their ranks will increase as well, leading to new attacks “against our countries as they did…when they were being inspired by” ISIS’ caliphate.

Kemp said that al Qaeda and ISIS have been operating within Afghanistan for some time but will be to do so even more “freely” than before the 9/11 attacks because there is no longer any “fear of intervention” by Western powers.

“That’s finished. That’s history. That’s not gonna happen again. They know that. And so they’ll be even bolder than before,” said Kemp.

He went on to predict that Russia and China will join with Afghan neighbors Iran and Pakistan to further “enrich themselves by plundering” the country. Both Moscow and Beijing have essentially recognized the Taliban militant group as now being in charge of the country.

China, especially, is preparing to use its influence to secure the wealth of minerals and natural resources in Afghanistan to “hit against the West.”

In addition, he believes that Russia and China will be able to fill a leadership void throughout the world because the United States will now be viewed as an untrustworthy ally.

“So the whole world just became vastly more dangerous. The U.S. government – President Biden humiliated the United States. He humiliated the United States Army,” Kemp argued.

“I think the consequences of what’s just happened and what’s still happening are absolutely devastating for the whole of the Western world.”
