In what might be a stark example of misery loving company, a ISIS terrorist cell is reportedly making the evacuation of thousands of Americans stranded in Afghanistan after the Taliban took over even more complicated and alarming.
Although unstated specifically, the danger posed by an Islamic State branch that might be targeting Americans in the Afghan theater allegedly prompted the U.S. Embassy in the capitol city of Kabul to issue an ominous and deflating warning to those who are still stuck in the country and hoping for prompt rescue:
“Because of potential security threats outside the gates at the Kabul airport, we are advising U.S. citizens to avoid traveling to the airport and to avoid airport gates at this time unless you receive individual instructions from a U.S. government representative to do so.”
As a side note, it is perhaps not evident how officials would transmit “individual instructions” to those Americans who are being told to stay put amidst the fall-of-Saigon-like pandemonium.
Making matters worse, Al Qaeda also reportedly has a presence in the country in the form of hundreds of fighters, according to U.S. Defense Department sources, despite what Joe Biden claimed last week.

Per Fox News, “Pentagon officials would not comment on the nature of the possible threat at a press conference on Saturday, but officials told Fox that it was a threat from ISIS that triggered the warning…’There are other terrorist groups we are concerned about as well,’ one official told Fox.”
The potential ISIS threat is prompting a change in strategy, NBC News reports:
“Two defense officials [said] that they are tracking specific threats from ISIS against the Kabul airport and those trying to get to the airport. With that, alternative ways are being developed to get people to the evacuation zone…This includes gathering smaller groups of people at specific locations and then moving them to the airport in intervals. The goal is to get them there safely and make it easier to get through the gate quickly with smaller groups of people.”
Out of some 17,000 individuals airlifted out of Kabul so far, less than 3,000 reportedly have been American citizens. There is an estimated 15,000 Americans still in the country.
As a side note, Fox News host Tucker Carlson (among others) has expressed concern about resettling thousands of unvetted Afghan refugees in the U.S.

Reports have already emerged that the Taliban inflicted beatings on some Americans outside Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul as the chaotic situation created by Biden’s botched withdrawal of American troops continues to spiral out of control.
With about 6,000 troops now on the ground there, the Biden administration claims the airport is secure.
Although it’s a fast-moving situation and things could change, in what might be potentially terrifying to those Americans anticipating rescue from now Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters last week that the troops deployed to the airport lacked “the capability to go out and collect up large numbers of people.”
