Families of 9/11 victims enraged at libs comparing terror attack to Jan. 6 riot ‘to score points politically’

The families of 9/11 victims are enraged over the media and leftists portraying the U.S. Capitol riot as being worse than the horrific terrorist attacks that occurred almost 20 years ago, leaving nearly 3,000 dead in their wake and launching wars across the globe.

Families who lost loved ones on that tragic day told Fox News that they are disgusted and sickened by the comparison of the two events. While one person tragically died during the Capitol riot at the hands of an anonymous officer, 9/11 took thousands of grandparents, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, and loved ones from their families forever.

Almost twenty years ago, retired New York Deputy Fire Chief Jim Riches lost his son during the attacks along with 342 other firefighters who were trying to save lives that day. “It’s a shame,” he sadly stated. “Are they kidding me? 3,000 people died, plus we have more people dying from the air that was down there … They’re comparing it to score points politically. The families are really [angry]. When I talk to them, when they compare it to that, they find that outrageous.”

“They were inconvenienced,” Riches commented. “We were inconvenienced for a lifetime, and we will never forget … Families have been destroyed, and we’re still living with it. It’s never-ending.”

Democratic lawmakers have demanded that the riot be investigated by a “9/11-style” commission.

“I would like to see Jan. 6 burned into the American mind as firmly as 9/11, because it was that scale of a shock to the system,” leftist commentator George Will stated.

Huffington Post White House correspondent S.V. Dáte declared the riot was worse because Usama bin Laden and the other terrorists “never threatened the heart of the American experiment.” He went on to tweet, “The 1/6 terrorists and Donald Trump absolutely did exactly that. Trump continues that effort today.” He later stated via Twitter that the riot was “1000 percent worse.”

Left-wing pundit and former George W. Bush strategist Matthew Dowd contends that the riot was worse because it divided the country. Lincoln Project co-founder and liberal strategist Steve Schmidt supported Dowd’s assertion and stated that the riot was worse because it will lead to a greater loss of life.

“The 1/6 attack for the future of the country was a profoundly more dangerous event than the 9/11 attacks,” Schmidt outrageously said last week during a town hall meeting. “And in the end, the 1/6 attacks are likely to kill a lot more Americans than were killed in the 9/11 attacks, which will include the casualties of the wars that lasted 20 years following it.”

Wall Street Journal writer Debra Burlingame wrote a scathing rebuke of the left in May providing perspective.

“Members of Congress might have had a frightening day on Jan. 6, but on 9/11 some 200 people in the World Trade Center towers chose to jump from 80 to 100 floors above the ground rather than be consumed by fire. A woman waiting at a lobby elevator bank was burned over 82% of her body when jet fuel from the first plane sent a ball of fire down the elevator shaft and into the lobby. She spent three months in a hospital burn unit and was permanently disfigured,” she noted.

While terrorists took out the Twin Towers on 9/11 leaving death, misery, and destruction behind, the Jan. 6 riot saw one death and minimal damage to the Capitol building. However, it did frighten members of Congress and anger them over their inner sanctum being violated. The two events are not even close to being comparable.

“It’s unfortunate because we’re coming up in the 20th anniversary,” said Burlingame, whose brother Charles Burlingame was killed piloting American Airlines Flight 77, the plane that crashed into the Pentagon. “There are a lot of young people who have no living memory of 9/11 … When you have all these comparisons and analogies, which are inflated and ridiculous, it minimizes what actually happened, and that’s what’s happening here. It’s a deliberate ploy.”

She noted the staggering “destruction and heartbreaking loss” on 9/11.

“It is deeply offensive and sad that the brutal and harrowing memories of the worst terrorist attack in American history are being deployed by political partisans,” she remarked.

Joe Connor lost his cousin Steven Schlag that day at the World Trade Center. He told Fox News that there is simply no comparison.

“They just dehumanize our families for political gain,” he charged. “I guess they call it gaslighting. They can say these things that will make people believe that these riots were worse than the worst thing that happened on American soil. Either they’re ignorant or they’re just really devious and clever, and you can put nothing past them, because if you’re willing to lie to that degree … It’s a disturbing trend to me.”

“I saw people jumping out. I saw the sides of the buildings explode. I saw papers floating in the wind, and I tried to call my cousin,” he recalled. “No one picked up … The terror, the carnage, the horror of 9/11, 20 years ago. They’ve forgotten or they think the rest of us have forgotten.”

Don Arias, whose brother Adam died on 9/11 while working on the 84th floor of the South Tower, said it makes his “blood boil” that anyone would make that comparison

“Clear thinking people see these inflammatory statements as the bulls–t they are,” Arias said. “There’s no comparison.”

Cornell Law School professor William A. Jacobson, who is a New York native, stated, “The people making the assertion likely don’t believe what they are saying.” He added, “The riot, while it obviously never should have happened, is being exploited by Democrats and liberal media.”
