Rudy Giuliani warns of ‘phony operation’ behind Ashli Babbitt shooting: ‘There’s a whole plot behind this’

Former New York City mayor and Trump attorney Rudy Giuliani alluded to the “completely phony operation” surrounding Jan. 6 protester Ashli Babbitt’s shooting death and explosively claimed that “there’s a whole plot behind this.”

“This was a completely phony operation here: They tried to take this unfortunate trespass, which shouldn’t have been done, and make it into an insurrection,” Giuliani stated on “Greg Kelly Reports” Monday. “Well, first of all, this is the only insurrection in which a shot wasn’t fired. The only shot fired is the one shot by the police officer and at an unarmed woman, which they don’t want to talk about.”

“There’s a whole plot behind this, and I’m not sure I understand all of it, but how is it that this thing all shows up on the video taken by an Antifa member, paid for by CNN, and he just happens to be there when the shooting takes place, and he just happens to know where the gun is located,” Giuliani asked. “And none of the police have any interest in that.”

A video of the protest and Babbitt’s killing filmed by an anti-Trump protester named John Sullivan from Utah somehow magically found its way into the hands of both CNN and NBC who each paid $35,000 for it. Australian Broadcasting Corp. also paid him $2,375 for his video. When he was arrested, the FBI reportedly seized $90,000 he had made from that video according to the warrant for his arrest and court documents.

The identity of the officer who shot Ashli Babbitt remains unverified but it is suspected it could have been Lt. Michael Byrd. He has reportedly been protected by federal authorities since the Air Force veteran was shot and killed on Jan. 6 when she attempted to climb through a broken window in the Capitol Building. Babbitt’s family is suing to find out who the officer is and there are unsubstantiated rumors of his identity but, so far, he remains anonymous. All charges were dropped against the officer by the Justice Department.

Newsmax host Greg Kelly is the son of former NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly who served when Giuliani was first elected as mayor of New York City. He pointed out that in “good and bad” police-involved shootings, the police typically brief the public, especially if the victim was unarmed at the time of the shooting.

“I showed that the night it happened to three different New York City former detectives,” Giuliani noted. “Every single one of them – I can’t repeat the words, you know how they said it – they said, and one of them was absolutely certain, the other two said it had to be investigated. I mean, this is a plot you have to investigate. I hope the cops have got a good explanation.”

Former President Trump has also weighed in on the Babbitt shooting. He told Fox News host Maria Bartiromo on “Sunday Morning Futures” that he had received information on Sunday morning that the shooter was the “head of security” for an unnamed Democrat leader. This fuels suspicions concerning the shooting and whether there was any political bias involved.

“I will tell you they know who shot Ashli Babbitt, they’re protecting that person, I’ve heard also it was the head of security for a certain high official, a Democrat. We’ll see, it is going to come out, it is going to come out, what happened to Ashli Babbitt and what’s happening currently to people that are incarcerated,” Trump stated.

There has been no transparency from the Capitol Police on events that occurred during the protest. Multiple reports indicate they are withholding massive amounts of video footage and evidence from that day.

Republicans are demanding congressional oversight of the investigation into the Capitol riot.
