The U.S. Border Patrol released a video on Wednesday that showed two smugglers heartlessly dropping three-year-old and five-year-old girls over a 14-foot wall in the middle of the night in the New Mexico desert. Then they ran off, abandoning them to their fate before agents swept in and heroically rescued the little girls.
El Paso Sector Chief Patrol Agent Gloria Chavez commented on releasing the disturbing video. She pointed out in a statement that the coyotes scaled the barrier and then simply dropped the children onto the hard ground, not caring if they were hurt or not. They also threw down some belongings after they dropped the girls, who are sisters. The children could have easily perished in the harsh conditions they were left in if it had not been for agents who were watching the ordeal take place, she remarked.
Chavez noted that the little girls were left to fend for themselves “miles from the nearest residence.” “I’m appalled by the way these smugglers viciously dropped innocent children from a 14-foot border barrier last night. If not for the vigilance of our agents using mobile technology, these two tender-aged siblings would have been exposed to the harsh elements of the desert environment for hours,” Chavez angrily stated.
“We are currently working with our law enforcement partners in Mexico and attempting to identify these ruthless human smugglers so as to hold them accountable to the fullest extent of the law,” she proclaimed.

The Border Patrol reported in a press release on the incident:
On Tuesday evening, a Santa Teresa agent utilizing camera technology observed a smuggler dropping two young children from the top of the approximately 14-foot-high border barrier. Immediately after both children landed on the ground, two smugglers immediately fled the area and abandoned the helpless little girls on the north side of the international boundary line.
The camera operator alerted Santa Teresa agents and directed them to the remote location of the incident. Responding agents found the three-year-old and five-year-old Ecuadoran children and rendered aid to them. The two toddlers are sisters and both were alert when agents made contact with them.
The girls were transported to a Border Patrol Station for evaluation by medical personnel. Then they were taken to a local hospital for further evaluation. Fortunately, they are doing fine and are reportedly being kept in Border Patrol temporary holding until they are placed by Health and Human Services.
The Biden administration is still not calling the humanitarian catastrophe on the southern U.S. border a crisis. Thousands of unaccompanied children are coming across the border and then they are packed into facilities like sardines. Biden’s Department of Homeland Security is attempting to get a handle on the situation but seems to be failing miserably at it. Unaccompanied minors cannot be expelled, although some families can be under Title 42 health protections.
Customs and Border Protection currently has more than 5,000 minors in custody. Health and Human Services also has more than 11,000 under their purview.
Commenters on Twitter were horrified and outraged over the cruelty of the smugglers, but they were thankful to the Border Patrol for rescuing the little girls:
This is horrible! Thanks to the STN agents for assisting and helping those poor babies.

Ages 3 and 5 . . . as a parent myself, I just can’t imagine how that will end up well for these kids.

Now this is something AOC should be upset and crying about. So awful.
