Dems seek to erase Trump from all federal property, forever – including burial in Arlington Nat. Cemetery

Hell hath no fury like a Democrat scorned.

A bill recently introduced by Democratic Rep. Linda Sanchez essentially prohibits the federal government from funding a multitude of things that would be dedicated to “any former President that has been twice impeached by the House of Representatives.”

America has had only one of those so far — Donald Trump. Yet, in fairness, Trump is also the only U.S. president that the Senate has twice failed to convict during impeachment proceedings.

The measure, dubbed the “No Glory for Hate Act,” carries one of the most ironic names to emerge from Congress in recent memory, considering that the bill just further illustrates the unhinged, indefatigable and often inexplicable hatred Democrats have held for Trump for the last four years.

Sanchez’s bill would seek to erase Trump from history in some ways. Its language shows the same mindless contempt, albeit applied preemptively, demonstrated by rioters last year who toppled countless statutes of  George Washington and other American historical figures.

The bill bans federal funding to “create or display any symbol, monument, or statue commemorating” a twice impeached president “on Federal public land, including any highway, park, subway, Federal building, military installation, street, or other Federal property.”

The measure would also prevent funding to “name, designate, or redesignate a Federal building or Federal land after, or in commemoration of, any former President that has been twice impeached by the House of Representatives.” In addition, federal money could not be provided to state or local governments if those agencies intend to apply it “for the benefit of any building, land, structure, installation, or any other property that bears the name, or is named or designated in commemoration of, any former President that has been twice impeached by the House of Representatives.”

Sanchez and her cohorts further seek to strip Trump of all benefits entitled to former presidents except for Secret Service protection. Finally, it would bar the secretary of defense from approving “any former President that has been twice impeached by the House of Representatives” from being buried at Arlington National Cemetery.

Sanchez explained in a recent interview with MSNBC that the idea for the bill came to her during the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol.

“As I laid, as you know, huddled in my office in the dark with a baseball bat in my hand and the door barricaded, you know, waiting to see if these, you know, these rioters, and you know, secessionists and, you know, insurrectionists would reach me, I thought to myself there is no way that our president should get any glory for inciting hate and insurrection,” she told MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace earlier this month.

Sanchez added that she vowed that day to prohibit “anything that had a penny of federal money in it for being named after him.”

“You cannot be a traitor to democracy in this country and profit from it,” she added.

Regarding that bat Sanchez huddled with, Democratic Rep. Danny Davis of Illinois, a co-sponsor of the bill, noted in a statement that Sanchez was “armed with only the baseball bats she plays the Congressional baseball game with.” More irony.

That’s because Democrats have not shown any plan to strip Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, whose anti-Republican rhetoric inspired one of his followers to try to kill GOP congressmen and Capitol Police officers as they practiced for the 2017 congressional baseball game, of all the perks of his office.
