As if enough aspects of life aren’t taxed in the United States, Virginia’s governor is mulling additional taxes on everyday services.
In an interview with a local news outlet, Democratic Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger did not rule out additional taxes on services her constituents use every day, such as gym memberships, dog grooming and subscription services.
Watch:
A lot has been made of taxes proposed by Democrats that never passed the General Assembly, including a bill to tax streaming services and more.
Republicans, including President Trump, have attacked Governor Abigail Spanberger over that bill and others.

“I think every idea, as long as it’s reasonable and makes some amount of sense, should be discussed,” she said. “I think there are worthy conversations to be had about what revenue generation looks like into the future as our economy changes in so many ways.”
This comes after President Donald Trump lashed out at Spanberger on Truth Social in early April for being yet another Democrat who loves her taxes.

“Heading to Virginia for meetings at Trump National. I can’t believe what this new Governor, Spanberger, has done to the Commonwealth — So sad! She is adding so many Taxes, a Food and Beverage Tax, Digital Services Tax, Utilities Tax, and more. It has lost its Energy, Vitality, and Strength. People are leaving that would never have even thought of doing so! New companies that signed to come into the Commonwealth under Governor Youngkin are now looking for ways to get out — Break their Deal,” he wrote. “It all happened so fast! This went from a thriving and powerful place, one envied by all, to a Commonwealth run by a person who has no concept of Low Taxes and Economic Strength. People that voted for Spanberger are saying to themselves, ‘Why did I do that, what have I done?’ We have a similar situation in New York and, most of all, in California, where Rich, Job Producing people and companies are being forced to FLEE at levels never seen before. The Tax Base in California is literally disappearing, as some of the richest people and companies in the World have no choice but to leave. They want to put on a Wealth Tax, which gives them absolutely no alternative — As President of the United States, I am embarrassed to watch the Destruction of once Great and Thriving States! These politicians are all sinking in the Polls, but that doesn’t help because they will create Trillions of Dollars worth of Destruction — Incalculable amounts. Remember, once people and companies leave, they are never coming back!”

You better believe once this gerrymandering thing is sorted out that she will be signing every tax increase that she comes across her desk.

She proposed all these new taxes, made zero effort to kill any existing taxes, and raised energy costs. Her intent is clear and her words are meaningless.

You should’ve asked; you ran on affordability, repealing the car tax would help every single VA resident, if you know it could help every resident, why aren’t you doing it. That’s what a real journalist would ask. This was pathetic.

So she is saying every new tax idea should be entertained and discussed.

To me her answer sounded like – “Trump was ludicrous for saying I’d sign all these crazy tax bills! But I’d at least consider signing any possible crazy tax that lands on my desk, including the ones he mentioned.”
