United Airlines flight 169 was landing at Newark International Airport from Venice, Italy, when its landing gear reportedly smashed into the driver’s window on the New Jersey Turnpike Sunday afternoon. Miraculously, the driver only sustained minor injuries and was treated for them at the hospital.
Speaking to KOMO News, Chuck Paterakis, the senior vice president of Transportation & Logistics and co-principal at H&S Bakery, revealed that the trailer was completely unharmed by the collision.
“To me, that everybody on that plane, everybody and the driver, God was looking after them, there’s no doubt. If we did that scenario again, I don’t know if anybody could’ve survived that,” he said.
“According to Paterakis, the plane was preparing to land in Newark when the incident took place. United Airlines Flight 169 struck a light pole on the New Jersey Turnpike while returning from Venice, Italy,” the outlet reported.

How in the hell was that plane so low crossing over that road

The driver surviving proves he has a guardian angel. Incredible.

Oh this guy is lucky as hell to survive this. He’s gonna get a massive settlement. Thank god the plane didn’t crash. A 767 clips your truck and you survive?!
is absolutely insane

I hope everyone is OK. But as an Old aircraft technician, you wouldn’t catch me on a commercial aircraft and never Newark.

How does a bakery truck even end up that close to the runway path. Feels like United needs better ground radar or NJ Turnpike traffic control right there. Wild close call for everyone involved.
