A Nevada judge sentenced “Dances with Wolves” actor Nathan Chasing Horse to life in prison for sexually assaulting Indigenous women and girls.
Judge Jessica Peterson sentenced Chasing Horse on Monday after a jury convicted him of 13 charges primarily related to sexual assault. One of the disgraced actor’s three accusers was underage at the time of the assaults, according to CBS News. Accusers and their loved ones told Peterson they continue to suffer from trauma and struggle with their faith after Chasing Horse, a Lakota medicine man, abused his position as a spiritual leader in the community when the women came to him for medical help or to participate in ceremonies.
