MD school employee, union exec accused of recording underage girls in changing room

Another day, another trusted school employee caught engaging in inappropriate behavior with students.

It’s a kind of fatigue that hurts the spirit, seeing story after story of children being victimized by adults in positions of power over them. James Mulhern III, a 43-year-old man who “worked for the Montgomery County Public Schools system in Maryland” has been arrested on charges of sex abuse of a minor after a camera was discovered that allegedly contained material of minor females changing clothes in the theater area of the school.

Look:

It all started when two Walter Johnson High School students reported finding a camera on April 7, according to WJLA. The device, which was in the theater control booth, allegedly contained “footage recorded inside a girls’ changing room in the theater area.”

“Police said the video showed Mulhern planting the camera before leaving. Shortly after, students walked into the room and started changing for a performance,” the outlet reported. “Authorities said a student sent the video to the school principal, who identified Mulhern, a media services technician at the school.”

Additional evidence was reportedly uncovered following the execution of search warrants at the school and Mulhern’s home, and he was placed on leave without pay until the investigation is completed.
