Republicans have a lot to learn about PR

Op-ed views and opinions expressed are solely those of the author.

I woke up to news that the Dow Jones Industrials had topped 50,000 for the first time in history!  Great news.  Equally great news were polls that showed strong, bipartisan support for the SAVE Act, which would require proof of citizenship to vote in US elections.  More great news.  Then the news hit that a staffer decided to post a video on Truth Social depicting President Trump as the Lion King and the Obamas as primates, which fueled political opponents to line up and attack the president.

Whether or not people find it funny is not the point.  Whether or not people point to the fact that there have been many memes and videos that depict President Trump and other Republicans unfavorably is not the point.  The point here is that this kind of hyperbole is unnecessary and triggers people who could be on the fence politically.  It distracts from great accomplishments and gives the democrats ammunition that loads the gun and points it directly at the head of the Trump administration and politicians it supports in future elections.

It’s vital that Republicans see the big picture, and that picture is solely focused on the midterm elections, where margins of victory could be quite slim in many areas, and this will impact the balance in Congress.  Recent elections have narrowed the republican majority in the House to being razor-thin.  The Senate is split down the middle.  Democrats have already guaranteed that if they regain control of Congress, their first order of business will be to neuter the Trump administration, restore Doge cuts, and impeach the president, again.  The country cannot afford this kind of turmoil, nor can it afford to go back to the insane politics of the Biden Administration that exposed America to crime, fraud, and a myriad of other issues.

Crime is down, inflation is down, the border is closed, and there are numerous wins for this administration.  The entire democratic platform is “Republicans are bad.”  They support illegal aliens, defunding law enforcement, wasteful spending, surgically altering children, just to name a few insane issues.  If the Republicans were better at public relations, they would have a massive majority in Congress, but instead struggle to maintain a slim majority in Congress.

Zohran Mamdani sympathetically visited a man who threatened police officers with a knife to express his support for this criminal! ICE is removing pedophiles, gang members, and illegals from the streets, but is under constant attack from paid protesters and leftist lunatics, as well as a legacy media that is afflicted with a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome.

Perception is reality for most people, and if the left can create the perception that Trump is evil or a racist, they don’t need the help from staffers who create videos to reinforce these ideas about the president.  To win elections, independents are the key and you win votes with smart public relations that A) expose the idiocy of people like Schumer, the alleged fraud of people like Ilhan Omar and Ayanna Presley and the gross incompetence of Gavin Newsome and and JB Pritzker among others, B) you taut the accomplishments of the Trump Administration and make it impossible to ignore success.

The leftist media look for every opportunity to deride the administration, so why give it fodder?  Many people will say that the video isn’t a big deal; however, I urge people to look at the big picture, and if the objective is winning elections and maintaining majority numbers, what is the point of posting things that risk losing votes?

Every gaffe that Republicans make breathes life into leftist attacks and distracts from the truth that the country was in a shambles under President Autopen.  There is silence from the mainstream media when the narratives show good things happening as a result of President Trump’s policies.  However, when things like this ridiculous video hit social media, all the accomplishments are quickly forgotten, and the focal point remains on something inane, which will be used to sway voters to vote blue in November.

Leave the comedy to comedians and focus on the things that matter, and more importantly, get the word out to people to show there is no comparison between republican and democratic leaders.  There are two things that democrats are much better at than Republicans: 1) unity and 2) public relations.  You don’t see “DINOS,” because despite all their flaws, democrats remain united.  The same can’t be said of Republicans or conservatives.  There are plenty of RINOS (Republicans in Name Only) who act as saboteurs to the goals of the conservative movement.  One only needs to dial up the views of people like Mike Pence and  Marjorie Taylor Greene to see evidence of a party that shows signs of splintering.

Conservatives must also battle an educational system that has spent decades turning out woke liberals, but a big part of this was their own fault.  As leftists took over school districts, Republicans ignored it and failed to realize that the children of yesterday became voters of today.  The insane ratio of conservative to liberal teachers and administrators implemented policies that pushed youths in one political direction.

Having evidence of success, a common-sense approach, and dispelling ridiculous notions purported by leftists who say things like, “We are living on stolen land” or “Voter ID is Jim Crow 2.0” should be a no-brainer, but there are too many people with no brains whose political opinions are influenced by slogans and social media posts.  Viral posts don’t have to be true to do damage.

White House Press Secretary, Caroline Leavitt, is a breath of fresh air compared to her brainless predecessors who stood on podiums and lied to cover up the policies of their feeble-minded leader.  She does her best to combat false narratives, and she should not havethe vast time to defend issues created by people who refuse to understand the ramifications of actions that could alienate potential voters.

Whether it is the Epstein files, claims requiring valid proof of citizenship to vote, or a video that can be perceived as racist and sexist (even though they still can’t come up with an answer to the question: What is a woman?) leftists will seize on these things to distract from positive accomplishments with the purpose of winning the minds of voters.  They may not understand common sense, but they do understand the minds of easily influenced people who will vote blue in November if given the right excuse.  Disinformation is a powerful tool in the contest to win elections, and this must be at the forefront of the minds of those on the right if the country is to continue to flourish under conservative policies that keep the country on the path to success.
