A debate over Greenland heated up on Fox News as co-hosts sparred over the Trump administration’s efforts to seize control of the territory from Denmark.
“NATO called Trump ‘daddy’. Why won’t they give daddy what he wants?” Jesse Watters quipped at one point during a discussion on “The Five,” reminding viewers of when NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte called President Donald Trump “daddy.”
“Because sometimes daddy needs to be told no,” co-host Jessica Tarlov shot back. “That’s just the facts on the table.”

“By who?” Watters asked.
Tarlov responded, “By anyone who has the guts to do it, and it seems like the Danish foreign minister, the Danish prime minister, the head of Greenland, that they’ve got the stuff and they’re saying NATO will disband if this happens. It will be an attack on a NATO country.”
“Whose side are you on?” Watters questioned.
“I’m on the side of America and also Greenland,” Tarlov replied. “The lack of respect for a sovereign nation that, as Dana said, would be very willing to come to the table and have a conversation with us about basically everything that they want to do…”
“I get it that you like the way that Trump does diplomacy, maybe more than I do. You like the way that he talks. You understand his weaves or his bobs or whatever. But you have a pan-European fleet coming to back up Greenland,” she continued, prompting Watters to laugh out loud.
“A European fleet!” Watters interjected. “That’s the funniest thing you’ve said all day! What do they have, one aircraft carrier?”
“No one would be happier if NATO was disbanded than Vladimir Putin,” Tarlove claimed.
Germany, France, Sweden, and Norway, among other nations, have announced that they would be sending troops to Greenland, “aiming to explore possible military contributions to bolster the security of the region,” Reuters reported.
Rep. Randy Fine (R-FL) introduced a bill this week that would allow Trump to “find the means necessary to bring Greenland into the Union.”
Huge News! Today, I am proud to introduce the Greenland Annexation and Statehood Act, a bill that allows the President to find the means necessary to bring Greenland into the Union.

“Let me be clear, our adversaries are trying to establish a foothold in the Arctic, and we can’t let that happen,” Fine wrote in a social media post. “By acquiring Greenland, we would prevent our adversaries from controlling the Arctic Region and secure our northern flank from Russia and China.”
