‘He’s slow’: Family insists Jan 6 pipe bomb suspect is NOT a Trump supporter, questions his involvement

Countering corporate media claims about favor for President Donald Trump, the grandmother of the alleged January 6 pipe bomber sought to set the record straight on her “borderline autistic” relative.

Within weeks of reports alleging U.S. Capitol Police may have been involved in planting pipe bombs in Washington, D.C. ahead of the events of Jan. 6, 2021, and nearly five years after the fact, a suspect was arrested this week in Virginia. After MS NOW cited anonymous sources alleging one Brian Cole Jr. had “essentially confessed” and claimed to be a supporter of Trump, the suspect’s own grandmother batted down the report, describing him as a “computer nerd” affiliated with no one.

“He’s not politically affiliated with anything,” said Loretta Cole in an interview with the Daily Mail as MS NOW had also reported on alleged anarchist views of her grandson.

“He has no social media contacts. He’s never online going back and forth with politics or anything like that. He says he don’t like either party,” she contended. “He’s borderline autistic. He’s slow. He may be 30, but he’s got the mind of a 16-year-old. That’s why we’re thinking — What the hell? What’s going on?”

“All I can tell you is I love my grandson. He’s not a bad kid and he’s not affiliated with any gangs or anything like that. He’s not a political anarchist, or whatever they’re calling him. People could pull unnamed sources out of the sky. I don’t believe that. I don’t know,” explained Cole who detailed to the Mail that FBI agents had searched her office Thursday when the suspect was arrested.

Points made by Cole had been corroborated by U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro who described the “very low-key life” of the suspect accused of planting explosives outside the Washington, D.C. headquarters of both the Democratic and Republican National Committees.

“He was always wearing his headphones. He would take his dog out. He’d go to the 7-Eleven. He was very low-key, low-profile,” she’d said on Fox News’ “The Ingraham Angle” before detailing that other pipe bomb parts had been discovered in his home.

“We’re terrified. They say they’ve got all this evidence. Whatever happened, we’ve still got to fight it. We have to figure out what to do,” Cole told the Mail as she recounted conveying to her grandson, “We told him we’re out here, we’re going to make sure thing’s taken care of.”

“We were told that the main thing he’s very upset about is that he disappointed us, that he got locked up,” she explained while remarking that she doesn’t believe the charges and had no idea her grandson had allegedly collected the necessary components for bombs for months.

“This young man is very calm and quiet. He just stays to himself. Nobody bothers him because he doesn’t bother anybody,” detailed the grandmother. “He doesn’t have a girlfriend. That’s how slow he is. He’s just off in a little world on his own. He stays downstairs and he used to be with his dog all the time.”

“That’s why everything is so messed up with us because he’s a good kid. If you knew him, you would say that he couldn’t have done it,” she went on. “And if he did, it was just him trying to prove a point or whatever. He probably doesn’t even know the magnitude of what he’s done, if he did it.”
