Reports that a showdown of political dynasties was imminent in a run for a soon-to-be-vacant New York congressional seat have been tempered by a new development.
Social media rumors flared this week as “insider” reports claimed that Chelsea Clinton and Jack Schlossberg, heirs to prominent Democratic political families, could face off to replace retiring Democratic Rep. Jerry Nadler in New York’s 12th congressional district.
But the daughter of former President Bill Clinton and former First Lady Hillary Clinton evidently has no interest in running, as a spokesperson dismissed the “rumors.”
“She is not considering a run,” the spokesperson told the Washington Examiner, noting that “there is no truth to this” when asked about the speculation that took off on social media.
The 45-year-old former first daughter, who serves as vice chair of the Clinton Foundation, has previously indicated she is not interested in running for political office. But that didn’t stop the excitement from taking off on X when speculation arose about Nadler’s seat.

However, the reaction was decidedly different in the Schlossberg camp, where John F. Kennedy’s grandson told the New York Times this week that a congressional run is “certainly a possibility.”
The 32-year-old attorney and writer reacted to Nadler’s announcement with a message on his Instagram account.
“Thank you Rep Nadler for your years of service and leadership to our country and NYC — here’s to the legacy you leave and all the work ahead us !!” wrote Schlossberg, who is the son of Caroline Kennedy.
He recently raised eyebrows with a mocking video of First Lady Melania Trump.

Nadler, who has served for over three decades in Congress, felt it was time to “pass the torch to a new generation,” announcing Monday that “this term in Congress will be my last.”
The feeble 78-year-old told the New York Times that “watching the [Joe] Biden thing really said something about the necessity for generational change in the party.”
The temporary possibility of a Clinton-Kennedy battle for Nadler’s seat set off a wave of reactions on X, where many seemed to focus on one fear.
