‘LMAO!’ Trump torches Susan Collins with advice for Republicans

President Donald J. Trump dropped a truth bomb Thursday evening on Truth Social, targeting liberal Republican Sen. Susan Collins.

Collins voted to convict Trump at his second sham impeachment trial and also voted against his Big Beautiful Bill. In fact, the GOP senator from Maine has made it a habit of siding with Democrats, having recently opposed defunding Planned Parenthood and ending illegal immigrants’ access to federally funded government assistance.

“Republicans, when in doubt, vote the exact opposite of Senator Susan Collins. Generally speaking, you can’t go wrong,” the president wrote on Truth Social. “Thank you for your attention to this matter and, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!”

While it’s not entirely clear what prompted Trump’s jab, he did drop a post calling for the Senate to stay in session and confirm all of his nominees before breaking for their annual August recess.

“The Senate must stay in Session, taking no recess, until the entire Executive Calendar is CLEAR!!! We have to save our Country from the Lunatic Left,” he wrote. “Republicans, for the health and safety of the USA, DO YOUR JOB, and confirm All Nominees. They should NOT BE FORCED TO WAIT. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

With Democrats slowing the roll on confirmations, Senate Majority Leader John Thune denounced the opposition’s “unprecedented level of obstruction and delay” on Wednesday, telling reporters that interest is “growing quickly” among Senate Republicans for a change to the rules governing the nominations process.

“There’s certainly interest in looking at options that might enable us to break the logjam and expedite consideration of nominees in a way that, in the end, would benefit both parties when their party has the presidency,” Thune said, according to CBS News.

The majority leader said last week that he may consider keeping the Senate in session.

“We’re thinking about it. We want to get as many [nominations] through the pipeline as we can,” Thune said.

Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-Okla.) blamed Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), telling CBS News that “we are actually not looking to do reforms, but we don’t have a choice.”

“This is Chuck Schumer’s fault. He’s the one that’s forcing this. And, so I don’t know what he expects to happen, but we will have to have some reforms if this is the way they continue to operate,” Mullin said.

Trump had plenty of support online for his barb about voting the opposite of Collins being a winning move — here’s a quick sampling of responses, as seen on X:
