‘He’s like Batman’: Daniel Penny back on subway

One might think Daniel Penny would never set foot on the New York City subway again after all he had to go through.

But the former United States Marine who was acquitted of homicide in the death of Jordan Neely was spotted riding the train again, with a photo posted that quickly made the social media rounds.

A Manhattan jury cleared the 26-year-old last month of criminally negligent homicide after he placed Neely in a chokehold when he threatened fellow passengers aboard the train. Neely died after the encounter but the manslaughter charge against Penny was dismissed when the jury became deadlocked.

Penny was spotted riding the subway again, reading a book as he traveled to his destination. The picture snapped set off countless reactions on X, with many feeling he made riding the NYC trains safer and others marveling that he had the courage to step back on a subway car again.

“The subway just got a lot safer,” Donald Trump Jr. reacted.

“Daniel Penny going right back to riding the subway is amazing. He’s like Batman,” Outkick founder Clay Travis wrote in a post.
