The U.S. House of Representatives squashed an attempt by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to oust Speaker Mike Johnson, voting against her motion to vacate on Wednesday.
Ahead of the 359-43 vote, former President Donald Trump had said “this is not the time” and called on House Republicans to table Greene’s motion.

Greene moved to force a vote on the Louisiana GOP leader, calling “her resolution to the floor as privileged on Wednesday, forcing GOP leadership to move on the measure within two legislative days,” The Hill reported.
“I absolutely love Marjorie Taylor Greene. She’s got Spirit, she’s got Fight, and I believe she’ll be around, and on our side, for a long time to come,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
“However, right now, Republicans have to be fighting the Radical Left Democrats, and all the Damage they have done to our Country. With a Majority of One, shortly growing to three or four, we’re not in a position of voting on a Motion to Vacate. At some point, we may very well be, but this is not the time.”
“We are leading in the Presidential Polls by a lot, both Nationally and in the Swing States … If we show DISUNITY, which will be portrayed as CHAOS, it will negatively affect everything!” Trump continued.
He called Johnson “a good man who is trying very hard,” adding that he “also wish[es] certain things were done over the last period of two months.”
“It is my request that Republicans vote for “THE MOTION TO TABLE,” Trump added. “We WILL WIN BIG – AND IT WILL BE SOON!”
Only 11 Republicans and 32 Democrats voted with Greene, while the rest of the chamber chose to table the resolution.
“On the Republican side, Johnson won the support of 196 members, while 163 Democrats also voted to shield him,” Fox News reported, noting that the “House GOP side of the chamber erupted in cheers when her move was squashed.”
