Zeldin supporter choked by Hochul fan in brutal rally attack

A peaceful protester standing outside a Manhattan rally for Democrat Kathy Hochul, New York’s accidental governor, was allegedly choked by a man on Saturday evening.

The sign-holding woman who was attacked is reportedly a supporter of Hochul’s Republican challenger, U.S. Rep. Lee Zeldin.

According to media reports, a Democrat elected official may have also been involved in the physical altercation.

The woman who was assaulted told the independent Viral News NY outlet, which uploaded a brief video clip of the incident to social media, that she was holding a sign that read “vote them out” when “a very large heavyset woman” grabbed her sign.

When she tried to retrieve the sign, a man wearing a plaid shirt and shorts, who was also larger than the protester, appeared to grab her by the throat. Two other individuals also tried to prevent the woman from regaining the placard.

“Never wanted to get physical with anyone; I was just there peacefully just holding my sign, and you know, they didn’t want to hear what I had to say,” she told Viral News NY.

Watch:

Fox News identified the still-shaken peaceful protester as Angelica Torres. She told FNC that “I was very shocked and upset that I couldn’t express my opinions openly without violence. Crime and violence is a big issue in our city.”

After receiving medical treatment, Torres reported the incident to the NYPD. So far, no reports of any arrests have emerged.

“New York City Councilwoman Krystal Hudson, a Democrat, was also reportedly seen tussling with Torres, who alleged that the councilwoman grabbed her. Her office has not responded to requests for comment,” Fox News added.

‘The melee occurred near the landmark Stonewall Inn, where the Democratic candidate Hochul was appearing with Bravo host Andy Cohen to shore up LGBTQ support in the days before the gubernatorial election,” the New York Post explained.

Lee Zeldin himself was attacked back in July during a campaign speech.

Insinuating the problem stems from the MAGA contingent, Democrats from President Biden on down have lamented political violence in the run-up to the midterm elections, which culminates on Tuesday, although who knows how much hocus-pocus will extend the vote count.

The haughty Hochul, an obscure politician previously serving as the ceremonial lieutenant governor, only got the top job by default when Andrew Cuomo resigned in August 2021 amidst sexual harassment allegations.

According to a recent poll from the Trafalgar Group, which has a good record for accuracy, the contest between Hochul and high-energy campaigner Zeldin is essentially tied, albeit in a blue state where no photo ID is required to vote and where the Democrat machine is obviously quite powerful.

In an aggregate of five polls, including Trafalgar, RealClearPolitics currently gives Hochul a six-point advantage.

Some political observers claim that an upset by Zeldin is in the making, particularly because of the crime epidemic under Dem rule, which Hochul unconvincingly sought to downplay, but time will tell.
