Pub hosting ‘beyond creepy’ event: ‘Vanellope is here to show you what a 11-year-old drag queen can do’

Old Nick’s Pub in Eugene, Oregon is being accused of child abuse in a “beyond creepy” event where an 11-year-old girl named Vanellope Craving will dress up as a drag queen to perform at a brunch show.

The bar describes itself as Eugene’s premiere Victorian Gothic British Pub. “Old Nick” is a nickname for the devil.

The show is set to take place on October 23 and it is not the first time the bar has had the young drag queen perform there. The child’s real name is Hannahlyn Engelson.

Sunshine Ray MacPherson, the child’s mother, whose real name is Jennifer Hibbs, is also a drag queen performer.

The bar has seriously promoted the event online. On its Facebook page, Old Nick’s Pub shows the child caked in makeup, posing provocatively.

People were enraged at the exploitation of the child. The young drag queen’s mother was blasted for making debauched spectacles central to the child’s life. A number of people are calling it child abuse and want to know why Child Protective Services isn’t involved.

The bar is defending having the child performer publically strut her stuff. They are twisting the narrative and accusing those who condemn the drag show of “sexualizing a child in makeup.”

Old Nick’s Pub shamelessly said in its post, “Are you excited for Drag queen story time brunch this Sunday morning!? Well, lets meet our performers! Vanellope is here to show you what a 11 year old drag queen can do. With all the charm and sweetness of a bowl of sugary cereal, Vanellope is here to brighten up your morning with all her drag talent.”

The establishment has been deleting negative comments on the post announcing the drag performance by the child. They told the Daily Mail it was “because many of them were becoming volatile, violent, and disgusting. And Vanellope does not need to see grown adults sexualizing her like that.”

“It’s very weird how many of you are sexualizing a child in makeup,” the bar noted in a post that features several pictures of Vanellope in sparkly eyeshadow, dark lipstick, fake eyelashes, and bejeweled clothing. “It all boils down to fundamental misogyny.”

“Drag is an art form. The idea that it is inherently sexual is a form of bigotry. There are sexualized 21 plus drag shows, yes. But drag is for everyone. This show is all ages,” the pub asserted.

“Drag is an art form. It’s traditionally an art form that is a performance of exaggerated femininity. As a society most people see feminine performance as sexual, even when it is not. Nothing Vanellope does is sexual. She wears costumes, lip syncs to her favorite songs, does acrobatic flips, and wears makeup when she wants to. Nothing about that is sexual,” a spokesman further stated according to the Daily Mail.

Journalist Andy Ngo reported on details of the show via Twitter. People were incensed over it.

“Pedophilia is alive and well in Oregon,” tweeted Erik Minor followed by another person who charged that the event was “depravity grooming.”

“Omg this is so beyond creepy,” Christina Pushaw, a media strategist for Governor Ron DeSantis, wrote.

One commenter named Dylan Kyle remarked, “I’m not trying to be harsh, or ‘phobic’ (whatever that means anymore) but this whole campaign to indoctrinate children is making me not want to be an ally. I get there’s a difference between gay individuals and ‘the movement ‘ – but it’s really not a good look.”

“Old Nick’s Pub is known locally in the university town for being a leftist bar, and it frequently hosts drag shows as well as sexual fetish events. Vanellope has performed at different events around the state of Oregon, sometimes with grown male performers in risqué outfits, since at least 2018. The girl has CashApp and Venmo accounts, where adults often send her cash tips. Photographs on her Facebook page also show her being showered on stage with dollar bills,” The Post Millenial reports.

The divorced mother of the young drag star commented on the pub’s post that she will defend her child against those who condemn her appearance and performances.

“The [sic] are going to have to come through ME her MOTHER and a hord [sic] of Queens and LBGTQ+ [sic] Community she is FIERCELY protected!!!!” MacPherson stated.

According to the mother’s Facebook profile, she has been crowned Ms. Gay Oregon at The Imperial Sovereign Rose Court of Oregon. She is also apparently the Star Empress at the Imperial Sovereign Court of the Williamette Empire.
