Steve Bannon makes calculated prediction about Kyrsten Sinema Dems are not going to like

Former Trump adviser Steve Bannon is predicting that moderate Rep. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) will “switch parties” following the 2024 election in order to caucus with the majority, dealing yet another blow to the floundering Democratic Party.

Bannon wrote on the conservative social media platform Gettr a post titled, “McConnell cozies up to Sinema ahead of next Congress.”

The caption to the post read, “Senator Sinema is looking downrange at the ‘24 cycle when the Republicans will only increase the majority they win in the Senate in ‘22 …the ‘24 cycle is that strong — watch her switch parties or go ‘independent’ and caucus with the Majority.”

“Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) is cozying up to Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) at a time when the Senate’s other most prominent Democratic centrist, Sen. Joe Manchin (W.Va.) has suffered a swift fall from grace among his Republican colleagues,” The Hill wrote.

“McConnell’s lavish praise for Sinema at an event he hosted for her at the McConnell Center at the University of Louisville is a sign that he and other Republicans view the Arizona senator as the most effective bipartisan coalition builder on the Democratic side of the aisle, say GOP senators and aides,” the outlet continued.

Speaking at the University of Louisville’s McConnell Center this week, Sinema was introduced by Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky). He praised her as the “most effective first-term senator I’ve seen in my time in the Senate.”

“She is, today, what we have too few of in the Democratic Party: a genuine moderate, and a dealmaker,” McConnell stated.

“It took one hell of a lot of guts for Kyrsten Sinema to stand up and say ‘I’m not going to break the institution in order to achieve a short-term goal’ and in the end, only two, just two of the 50 Democratic senators were willing to protect the institution,” he said referring to the filibuster rule.

Sinema commented on Monday that despite their “apparent differences,” she and McConnell “have forged a friendship, one that is rooted in our commonalities, including our pragmatic approach to legislating [and] our respect for the Senate as an institution.”

“In today’s partisan Washington, it might shock some that a Democratic senator would consider the Republican leader of the Senate her friend. But back home in Arizona, we don’t view life through a partisan lens… while we may not agree on every issue, we do share the same values,” she added, according to Newsweek.

Arizona is a red state that leans purple in some elections. It’s the same state the late Sen. John McCain (R) came from who touted a “maverick” legacy.

Sinema has stood firm on various issues despite intense pressure from Democrats to cave. She is by no means a conservative but she does buck the mandates of Democrats when she sees fit to do so.

She will be up for reelection in 2024. Sinema digging in her political heels has ticked off Democrats in her state for tanking progressive plans. The media has savaged her negotiating style with her own party as well.

According to an AARP poll in Arizona, she is deep underwater but polls are subjective and easily manipulated. The negative press doesn’t seem to intimidate Sinema in the least.

Leftist Slate’s Dan Kois flaunted the poll as an indicator of doom for the Arizona congresswoman with a typical partisan headline, “Kyrsten Sinema Has Brought the Entire State of Arizona Together (in Thinking She Sucks).”

Kois proclaimed that the results were “pretty remarkable!”

“Her unpopularity ‘crosses the aisle’ like that of no politician I’ve ever seen,” he asserted. “A solid 54 percent of Arizona Republicans don’t like her. And 51 percent of independents don’t like her (her best result!). As for Democrats? Arizonans of Sinema’s putative party simply do not like her, to the tune of 57 percent. (And that’s a distinct improvement from her 80 percent disapproval rating with Democrats in January!)”
