Joy Reid taunts DeSantis over begging Biden for hurricane assistance: ‘He’s now gotta go hat in hand’

MSNBC host Joy Reid is practically giddy because she believes Governor Ron DeSantis (R-Fla.) will have to crawl to President Biden and his socialist government for aid following Hurricane Ian devastating Florida.

She despicably gloated that a “Tea Party” Republican will be forced to ask the federal government for aid less than 24 hours after the monster storm ravaged the state and took numerous lives while destroying property and lives in its wake.

Thursday, on “The ReidOut,” the caustic leftist aired a piece of a live press conference where DeSantis described actions being taken for recovery and rescue efforts. He outlined essential services and where food, water, and assistance could be obtained.

Instead of voicing concern for besieged Floridians, Reid turned it into a talking point claiming that somehow DeSantis was using the tragedy to further his political aspirations.

“I worked in politics for a while, but I think you understand it better than I do, is that there are two kinds of ways to run for office. There is paid media where you purchase an ad, you purchase ad time on TV, you send out postcards. Everything like that is paid media,” she said speaking to former Florida Representative and political analyst David Jolly.

“And then there’s earned media. Earned media is way more valuable. It’s far more valuable. It’s when you can get unpaid media. It’s when you can get the media to pay attention to you, and to watch you doing something that’s only positive, where there’s no negative spin attached to it, where you don’t have to pay for it, it’s not an ad,” Reid contended.

She went on to posit that DeSantis “understands” the air time he is receiving from Hurricane Ian is “very valuable to him” politically. Then, she and Jolly discussed the potential political downside for DeSantis that they fervently hope comes to pass.

Both Reid and Jolly were beside themselves picturing the Florida governor begging Biden for help.

“He’s about to have to justify doing something that is antithetical to his entire ideological narrative, his entire story as a conservative Republican, as anti-Washington, that people should absorb their own risk and people should take care of their own lives. In a time of tragedy, people need help. And where Ron DeSantis is a no government conservative, he’s about to become a big government Republican,” Jolly gloated.

“Ron DeSantis led a no-government wing of the Republican Party that says let people be on their own. Now he’s in a position as the governor of having to do something for them, and the only way he can do that, the only way, is by asking for Washington, D.C. to bail him out,” Jolly continued.

“And the interesting thing is what hangs in the balance is his entire political career. He’ll be judged by the way he performs and succeeds in this moment, but he’s not going to be able to do it on his own. I actually think he has the audacity, he will go hat in hand at the same time insulting Joe Biden and Democratic leaders,” he predicted.

“He is now a Republican governor who needs one person to help him. It’s Joe Biden. And he needs the help of Joe Biden and he also needs the help of Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer because there will be an aid request that the Congress has to approve, likely when they approve a final appropriations bill in early December. Ron DeSantis knows that the Florida economy cannot absorb the tragedy that just hit. The federal government and Washington will need national Democrats to agree to help Ron DeSantis,” Jolly stated.

“Joe Biden will come to Florida and there’s only one way that Ron DeSantis should handle that. With grace, with hospitality, and with gratitude for the federal government,” he arrogantly contended.

“Now, as you said, he’s now gotta go hat in hand to Joe Biden for aid,” Reid happily declared, taking another shot at the Tea Party. “It’s something he didn’t even believe in as a Tea Partier.”

Reid shamelessly took advantage of the hurricane the night before to compare people fleeing the storm to illegal immigrants DeSantis relocated to Martha’s Vineyard as well.
