Texas Governor Greg Abbott’s re-election campaign had two volunteers and their vehicle attacked by a violent, unhinged man in a Houston suburb on Saturday while they were door-knocking, resulting in his arrest.
The man chased the two volunteers and then ripped the side view mirrors off their car, Abbott’s campaign said in a statement. He was charged with criminal mischief, according to Fox News.
“Yesterday, two Texans for Greg Abbott volunteers were assaulted by a man in Humble while they were knocking on doors. The man chased the volunteers through a neighborhood, tried to drag them out of their car, and punched both side view mirrors off of the vehicle. The volunteers called police, who responded to the scene. After identifying the suspect, and finding pieces of the vehicle in his trash can, Harris County authorities took the suspect into custody and charged him with criminal mischief,” Abbott’s campaign said in a statement.
“Political violence is never acceptable,” Mark Miner, who is the communications director for Abbott’s campaign, asserted in a statement. “With just over a month until Election Day, the passion to win should never bubble over into something more dangerous. There is no place for this in Texas.”

There has been unsurprisingly very little coverage of the violent assault in the media. Instead, the left is trending “Greg Abbott is a little piss baby” on Twitter.
Abbott is running for a third term as governor against Democrat Beto O’Rourke and is heavily favored to win. Immigration is one of the biggest factors giving Abbott an advantage in the state.
A new poll by Spectrum News and Siena College that was released on Wednesday shows Abbott with a seven-point lead, 50 percent to 43 percent, over O’Rourke. Abbott has made headlines for sending illegal immigrants to cities such as Chicago, New York, and Washington, DC, as part of his “Operation Lone Star” program introduced in March 2021.
Between April and mid-August of this year, he sent over 6,600 illegal immigrants to the doorsteps of progressive “sanctuary” blue cities, according to Newsweek. The left is incensed that he dared to do so.

Likely voters were asked about Operation Lone Star and the use of the Texas National Guard and state troopers to arrest and detain illegal migrants. Independents said they support it by 58 percent to 35 percent. GOP support is at approximately 93 percent.
When asked specifically about supporting the busing of migrants, Texas voters support it 52 percent to 40 percent. More independents also support it than reject it, by 47 percent to 44 percent.
Since Kamala Harris won’t go to the border, Greg Abbott brought the border crisis to her home. 😂🤣

“At this point in the race, it appears just enough that immigration is trumping the concern, the opposition, over abortion,” Don Levy, director of the Siena College Research Institute, said. “And consequently, all three top-of-ticket incumbents are holding leads between five and nine points.”
“When the issue is immigration, not only do [voters] say it’s the No. 2 issue in Texas behind the economy, it’s the second-biggest issue among independents,” he asserted.
A Real Clear Politics average of recent polls gives Abbott a 7.5 percent lead over O’Rourke in the run-up to the midterm election. A Democrat hasn’t won statewide office in Texas in almost three decades.
