Michael Palacios, who allegedly went into an ax-wielding rage in a New York City McDonald’s on Friday after three men attacked him, was released without bail under the city’s insane criminal-justice reforms.
The incident took place at a McDonald’s on Delancey Street just before 2:30 a.m. Palacios, 31, was repeatedly punched and smacked by three men in an altercation that involved a woman. Following that, he reportedly pulled out a hatchet and started smashing the place up, terrorizing customers.
“The ax man” was charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, three counts of menacing, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. Hours later he was freed, according to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office.
A criminal complaint noted that Palacios slammed two tables with the ax and shattered a plate-glass partition during the rampage.

According to the complaint, he told officers, “I have a pocket knife in my bike.”
The rage-filled fit was caught on a cellphone video. Three men went after Palacios when he reportedly would not leave a woman he was hitting on alone. They punched him in the head and body while the suspect calmly took it.
After the men backed off, Palacios retrieved an ax from his backpack and began smashing the fast food joint to bits. People ran for their lives to get away from him.
Palacios then allegedly slapped one of the men he was previously fighting with out of his chair.
“Bro, please! You better chill!” one man advised him.
The unstable man approached the terrified woman sitting at a table and yelled at her, “Don’t be afraid of me, be afraid of him!”

When the unhinged suspect was done, he calmly got on his bike and took off. He was later arrested by police concerning the incident.
The New York Post is reporting that a witness named Ruben G, who is an Uber driver, said Palacios lost it when a woman at the restaurant “rejected” him after he repeatedly attempted to talk to her.
“So basically he got into an argument with a girl, and then the girl rejected him. She didn’t want to talk to him. He kept going at her… that’s when the guys she was with stepped in and they started arguing. It all led to that,” Ruben said. “He was trying to talk to her and whatever. He was asking for her number, where she was from, and I guess she felt some way. She replied back in a certain manner that she didn’t want to give too much info and he kept pushing on.”
He claimed Palacios was inebriated.
“He was drunk. He was talking to me; I can smell the liquor off him,” he noted according to the New York Post.
He even bragged about the incident on Instagram:

“I waited for them to finish what they were doing and I just did what I wanted to do,” Palacios told ABC 7 News.
“My intention wasn’t to hurt anyone my intentions were not to put anyone in the hospital or dice anyone up, the reason I pulled out the hatchet was, ok, I’m going to get back at these guys but make sure they don’t jump me again,” he asserted.
“That’s why I keep my knife on me all the time,” one of the onlookers remarked who was recording the incident, according to the New York Post.
Sources who spoke with the New York Post claim that Palacios has previously been busted for resisting arrest.
