Hypocrisy was on the table in a segment on the Fox News ensemble show “The Five” on Wednesday during a discussion on how meddlesome Democrats spent millions boosting perceived less-electable MAGA candidates in the 2022 primary season.
One of the panelists characterized the scenario as “extreme MAGA grift.”

Judge Jeanine Pirro introduced the segment in the video clip embedded above by bringing attention to a “clueless” tweet from former Obama advisor David Axelrod lamenting the GOP primary win by a so-called election denier in the New Hampshire primary, which, according to him, will make it harder to win control of the U.S. Senate.
A GOP majority in the upper chamber even fueled by moderate wins would, ironically, be the last thing that Axelrod really wants, however.
Axelrod was probably referring to retired U.S. Army General Don Bolduc, who defeated a GOP establishment candidate, apparently with the help of a Democrat Super PAC, for the opportunity to attempt to unseat incumbent Democrat Sen. Maggie Hassan.
As an aside, Democrats have a long history of election denying, which they have conveniently ignored, with the help of the forgetful, or worse, corporate media.
As alluded to above, Pirro pointed out that Axelrod’s fellow Democrats have been spending big bucks, as much as $53 million according to some estimates, on campaign ads to elevate MAGA candidates and “bury the moderates. So much for that threat to democracy.”
When Pirro tossed it to co-host Greg Gutfeld to further address how liberals can slam the MAGA candidates after helping enable their primary victories, the latter quipped about the Dems, in an understatement, that “I’m beginning to think they really don’t mean what they’re saying.”

“Trying to win an election is more important than avoiding the ‘greatest existential threat since the Civil War’ tells me they might have been exaggerating,” Gutfeld implied in the context of all the liberal talking points about an insurrection and whatnot.
“And it also shows how little faith they have in their candidates that they would shift their energies to the other candidates rather than try to, like, figure out who their best person is.”
Gutfeld went on to wonder “Why is this election meddling somehow less worse than the Russians spending, what was it, a hundred grand on Facebook ads? Was that what it was, that ended up doing nothing? Isn’t there some sort of principle here? So, ‘It’s okay if we meddle, but somebody else can’t buy ads?’…it exposes their extreme MAGA grift.”
Turning to what should be the responsibility of the oblivious legacy media in reporting on the cognitive dissonance, Gutfeld asserted that “because if they were so terrified of these monsters, right, why are they trying to help them win? A media would actually go crazy on this story.”

He then offered a thought experiment to his colleagues:
“Imagine if we — I’m gonna say we as a Republican, even though I’m a registered independent, or I think I am, I don’t know, I forgot — what if we decided that we would amplify the socialists in the Democratic Party?”
Jessica Tarlov, who was in the liberal chair during that particular broadcast and from time to time seems more reasonable in that role than the other rotating cast of occupants, chimed in with “You do!”
Gutfeld wasn’t having it, however. “I don’t spend any money. I don’t support any socialists. Imagine if we did that; the media would go crazy if they found out, like ‘Fox was sending money to support socialists.’ But we don’t do that because we’re better people.”
At the beginning of the segment, Pirro warned “Democrats: Be careful what you wish for.”
Also in New Hampshire, former Trump administration official and America First star Karoline Leavitt, 25, won a four-candidate primary, including besting a GOP establishment-funded choice, in the state’s first congressional district. She will face far-left incumbent Chris Pappas in November.
“Trump-aligned” businessman Robert Burns defeated a moderate in the second congressional district and will face Democrat Rep. Ann McLane-Kuster.
