Chelsea Clinton turns on ex-friend Ivanka Trump in interview: ‘She went to the dark side’

Much of the snake oil Democrats attempt to sell is based off of the myth of the “tolerant left” that belies the progressive agenda to manifest their ideology by any means necessary.

Any means, of course, except reaching across the aisle.

Chelsea Clinton made that abundantly clear Thursday as she joined her mother, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for a discussion with Andy Cohen about their new Apple TV+ show “Gutsy” on “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.” In particular, the younger Clinton was asked about her relationship with fellow first daughter Ivanka Trump before “she went to the dark side.”

“I would say we were friends. She’s not the person I called when I was curious about something for my kids or if I was debating a life decision, but we were definitely friends,” she said before stipulating. “And then she went to the dark side.”

Clinton had been asked specifically about an anecdote from son-in-law and former senior advisor to then-President Donald Trump, Jared Kushner, in his new book, “Breaking History: A White House Memoir.” Within, he had mentioned a 2016 invite from the Trumps to the Clintons to have dinner.

“It is true that I spoke to Ivanka in November 2016, it’s the last time I have spoken to her,” Clinton expressed. “I do not recall being invited to dinner.”

The deflections by the progressive activist fall directly in line with the transition in American culture from a society where bipartisan friendships were commonplace to one where families have come to disown members over suggestions of political support for the opposition.

In Fall 2015, Clinton stated in an interview about her relationship with Trump, “Friendship is always more important than politics. I learned that growing up, watching my parents be friends with people across the political spectrum in Arkansas.”

Trump had followed up that sentiment by noting months later in the throes of the 2016 presidential election, “We are [friendly]. There’s certainly tremendous intensity around both of our lives right now.”

Following the claim of a dinner invite snub from Clinton, her shift away from Trump was already well underway as early as March 2018 when she appeared on “The Late Show” with Stephen Colbert and said, “I have not spoken to her in a long time. It’s clear that she has supported policies and decisions that I don’t agree with.”

Ahead of that, in 2017, it had even become apparent to CNN’s Fareed Zakaria that “Liberals think they are tolerant, but often they aren’t” and, as he went on to say, “American universities these days seem committed to every type of diversity except intellectual diversity. Conservative voices and views, already a besieged minority, are being silenced entirely.”

Fast forward to 2022 and 62 percent of college Democrats aren’t even willing to share a dorm room with a Trump supporter, compared to 28 percent of Republicans who wouldn’t bunk with a supporter of President Joe Biden, as tolerance and inclusivity have shifted to the ever-present demand for safe spaces and shielding from triggers.

The close-mindedness of the Clintons was further punctuated when Cohen asked the duo if they’d read Kushner’s new memoir.

“We missed that,” the former secretary of state noted before her equally-divisive daughter quipped, “And we’ll keep missing it.”
