CNN’s Zakaria DESTROYS the ‘tolerant Left,’ leaves them dumbfounded and defensive

Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn once in a while, so when CNN’s Fareed Zakaria hit the nail on the head Sunday regarding the “tolerant” Left, the surprise wasn’t so much the spot-on analysis, though that was indeed surprising, but the fact that CNN actually tweeted it out.

What isn’t a surprise at all, however, is how the left has reacted to Zakaria’s words.

Check this out:

After giving a rundown of various guests from both sides of the ideological spectrum who have appeared at commencement speeches, from Vice President Mike Pence at Notre Dame to Zakaria himself at Bucknell, the CNN host then proceeded to smack the elephant in the room right across the trunk.

“American universities these days seem committed to every type of diversity except intellectual diversity,” Zakaria said. “Conservative voices and views, already a besieged minority, are being silenced entirely.”

Zakaria ran down the recent list of people the Left has silenced or attempted to silence, people like Charles Murray, Ann Coulter, and Heather MacDonald, then reminded his audience that the real meaning of liberal “refers to the Latin root, pertaining to liberty.”

Indeed, freedom of speech means “protecting and listening to speech” you disagree with, and isn’t “just for warm fuzzy ideas we find comfortable, but for ideas we find offensive.”

Also citing what he believes is the Right’s assault on truth, Zakaria then decried the “anti-intellectualism on the left, an attitude of self-righteousness that says we are so pure, we are so morally superior we cannot bear to hear an idea with which we disagree.”

“Liberals think they are tolerant, but often they aren’t.”

Unlike most liberals these days, especially on campus safe spaces, Zakaria believes that “listening to other contradictory views will teach us all something, and sharpen our own views.”

Asking questions like “What if I’m wrong? What is the best argument on the other side?” can keep us from engaging in groupthink and help us come together in a “common conversation,” the CNN host believes.

So, will liberals listen? Judging from some of the Twitter reaction to his words, the answer is probably no.

But this mic-drop one pretty much sums it all up…
