Former FBI Washington Field Office Assistant Special Agent in Charge Tim Thibault was escorted out of the bureau on Friday, as allegations swirled that he had shown bias in his handling of the Hunter Biden laptop investigation.
The Washington Times reported that “Mr. Thibault was seen exiting the bureau’s elevator last Friday escorted by two or three ‘headquarters-looking types.'” The media outlet updated its reporting to reflect that Thibault “abruptly resigned” and was “forced to leave his post.” Two unnamed former FBI officials were cited.
Of note, it is standard operating procedure for an agent who is no longer with the Bureau to be escorted from the premises.
The 25-year FBI veteran was on leave for at least a month over revelations concerning political statements he made while leading the public corruption unit.

Senate Judiciary ranking member Chuck Grassley named Thibault in a letter in July that was addressed to FBI Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland. Whistleblowers were cited who claimed that there was political bias involved among high-ranking FBI officials including Thibault.
Thibault was accused by Grassley and the whistleblowers of not following the DOJ’s and FBI’s strict substantial factual predication guidelines to open an investigation.
“Thibault allegedly ordered the matter closed without providing a valid reason as required by FBI guidelines…. [and] subsequently attempted to improperly mark the matter in FBI systems so that it could not be opened in the future,” Grassley wrote accusingly in his letter.
Grassley asserted that Thibault and FBI supervisory intelligence analyst Brian Auten were allegedly involved in “a scheme” to “undermine derogatory information connected to Hunter Biden by falsely suggesting it was disinformation.”
How do you, as FBI agent, turn a blind eye to something like this? https://t.co/HtLT2TG98w

Thibault also allegedly tried to stop the investigation of possible Hunter Biden criminality up until at least one month before the Nov. 2020 election, according to Grassley.
“As you are aware, Assistant Special Agent in Charge Tim Thibault is not the only politically biased FBI agent at the Washington Field Office,” Grassley said in the letter. He also pointed out that “the FBI answers to Congress and the American people.”
Wray called the whistleblowers’ allegations “deeply troubling” during a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing earlier in August. He vowed that the whistleblowers would be protected and then removed Thibault from his supervisory role.
Thibault was one of 13 assistant special agents who are in charge at the Washington FBI field office. He was not involved in the FBI raid on former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate, according to reports.
A top FBI agent was fired today for withholding information on the Hunter Biden laptop story prior to November 3rd, 2020.
But don't you dare ever imply they would try to rig an election.
That would make you crazier than people who said Covid lockdowns and vaccines didn't work.

Whistleblowers accused Thibault of concealing politically skewed evidence from Wray and Garland to obtain their approval to open an investigation into Trump in 2020, according to Grassley.
The resignation follows Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg revealing that the social media giant suppressed the Hunter Biden laptop story following a vague FBI warning about possible “Russian propaganda” tied to the 2020 presidential election.
“Basically, the background here is the FBI, I think, basically came to us — some folks on our team — and was like, ‘Hey, just so you know, like, you should be on high alert,'” Zuckerberg stated on “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast.

“We thought that there was a lot of Russian propaganda in the 2016 election. We have it on notice that, basically, there’s about to be some kind of dump that’s similar to that. So just be vigilant,” the FBI reportedly told Zuckerberg.
According to the New York Post, Republicans are also looking into Thibault’s alleged anti-Trump social media activity ahead of the 2020 election, which included a retweet of a Lincoln Project message that called Trump a “psychologically broken, embittered and deeply unhappy man.”
The former FBI agent also allegedly tweeted that he wanted to “give Kentucky to the Russian Federation.”
