Fox News contributor Joe Concha called it “really disturbing” that The New York Times allegedly refused to publish an op-ed by GOP Rep. Tim Scott before checking with Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.)

Concha appeared on Fox News commenting after the host pointed out that Scott’s team submitted an op-ed to The New York Times that was never published ostensibly due to Schumer not giving his nod of approval over it.
“It’s really disturbing actually, Carley. It’s not necessarily something that’s shocking, however. The New York Times always talks about diversity in the newsroom, right? And celebrating diversity and that’s all great. But the most important diversity you can argue is the diversity of thought, right?” he asked.
“And according to Bari Weiss… here you have a senior editor questioning whether… remember, Tim Scott’s the only black Republican senator in the United States Senate. If he actually cares about his own race, if he actually cares about minorities in this country, and then says we should probably check with one of the most senior people on the Democratic side before we run this… it shows you that many of the decision-makers at the New York Times aren’t there to serve and inform the public, but to serve at the pleasure of the Democratic Party,” Concha continued.
“It’s not journalism. It’s activism,” he flatly asserted.
Is anyone surprised that the New York Times is a supporting wing of the democrat party?

Concha’s comments come after journalist Bari Weiss informed her guest Senator Tim Scott on a recent episode of her podcast, that while she was with the New York Times, an editor instructed a colleague to “check with Senator Schumer” before running an op-ed on police reform that he had submitted.
“Well, here’s what happened. I was at the New York Times and you or your staff sent in an op-ed about the bill and why it fell apart, and this is the part I’m not sure if you know,” Weiss explained. “There was a discussion about the piece and whether or not we should run it. And one colleague, a more senior colleague said to a more junior colleague who was pushing for the piece, ‘Do you think the Republicans really care about minority rights?'”
“I think Tim Scott cares about minority rights,” the junior employee replied.
His superior proceeded to tell him to “check with Senator Schumer before we run it.” The junior employee did not do as they were told due to ethics concerns according to Weiss, who asked Scott if he was surprised by the story.
The NY Times refused to run an op-ed on police reform by Tim Scott in 2020 w/o Schumer’s approval per former editor Bari Weiss. Weiss resigned in July 2020 for“unlawful discrimination”& workplace bullying over her political views.

“I am disappointed to hear that. I am not surprised to hear that. You have to remember that the Washington Post fact-checked my life,” Scott commented.
Senator Ted Cruz (R-Texas) blasted the revelation on Twitter, “If this is true, the entire NYT editorial board should resign. Because the NYT doesn’t give a damn about journalistic integrity—because they embrace their role as Dem propagandists—I expect them to do nothing. And, sadly, the corporate media will ignore.”
A spokesman for The New York Times denied Weiss’s version of events, according to the Daily Mail.
“New York Times Opinion never seeks outside approval or consultation whether to publish guest opinion essays,” spokesman Charlie Stadtlander stated.
Weiss left The New York Times in 2021, writing in her resignation letter that “the paper of record is, more and more, the record of those living in a distant galaxy, one whose concerns are profoundly removed from the lives of most people.”
