Portland public schools reportedly goes graphic with radical gender-bending curricula for K-12

Once again, Portland is demonstrating its progressive bona fides by showing the rest of the nation how it’s done—this time with a school indoctrination program designed to turn K-5 students into card-carrying cultural Marxists and “queer activists.”

The new program was uncovered by indefatigable culture warrior Christopher Rufo, who obtained documents showing that Portland’s public school system is looking to inculcate its young students with the pseudo-metaphysics of radical queer gender theory.

For one thing, the district is now teaching that such quaint and scientific ideas about human sexuality as the demonstrable existence of only two sexes are, in fact, “colonized”—by which they apparently mean that the concept of “male” and “female” was invented by a sinister cabal of evil white supremacists in Europe, and was subsequently enforced upon unsuspecting natives around the world during the colonial expansion that attended the Age of Discovery.

And they say all the fringe conspiracy theorists are on the Right.

The Portland curriculum further laments that society’s current understanding of sex and gender is still influenced by this pernicious colonialism, and encourages young children to experiment with their gender expression, all while promising to become queer activists in order to combat their innate sexual fascism. That’s a lot to take in for such young children, but the leftist objective is obviously to sow as much sexual confusion at as early an age as possible, and in that quest the Portland public school system is succeeding admirably.

It gets even creepier. Rufo obtained a number of PowerPoint presentations depicting the curriculum, which begins as early as kindergarten. The presentations bear the innocuous title “Understanding Our Bodies: Kindergarten Health Scientists,” and include graphic depictions of male and female genitalia under the guise of “being scientists to know about our bodies.”

That might not be so reprehensible if the aim were indeed scientific, but the presentations stress the word “BODIES,” an important technical term in left-wing gender metaphysics. The presentations eschew any mention of “man” or “woman,” opting instead for the unwieldy “person with a penis” or (everyone’s favorite) “person with a vulva.” After all, as the presentation helpfully explains, “any gender and kid can have any type of body.”

Amen, sister…er, that is, consanguineous person with a vulva.

Moving into first and second grade, the curriculum starts teaching the core tenets of queer theory and instructs its young pupils that gender is a nefandous scheme dreamt up by adults to inflict their will on unsuspecting children.

“Gender is something adults came up with to sort people into groups,” one presentation proclaims, while another declares that “[g]ender is like outer space because there are as many ways to be different genders as there are stars in the sky!”

Finally, students are taught the different gender pronouns, including the weird transgender stuff like “they/them” and “ze/zir.” In third through fifth grade, students are instructed not to use gendered language when referring to people—”girls and boys” is decidedly out, to be replaced by “folx.” You can forget “mom and dad;” they’re now to be called “parents” or simply “your adults.” “Mr.,” “Mrs.,” and “Miss” are banished to the dustbin of history; children are now instructed to use “Mx.”

Then follows an obligatory lecture on “cisheteronormativity,” which rolls right off the tongue, and is presented as a concept used to oppress sexual minorities. “Being straight and cisgender (cis) are both dominant identities,” the presentation says. “The culture, systems, and assumptions that everyone is straight is called heteronormative. The culture, systems, and assumptions that everyone is cisgender is called cisnormative. Therefore, the culture, systems, and assumptions that everyone is straight and cis is called cisheteronormativity.”

But the truly Orwellian stuff happens at the end of the curriculum, when students are expected to make a “commitment to change,” and are then encouraged to adhere to a set of six commitments that don’t at all sound like something you’d be required to memorize at a totalitarian re-education camp:

  1. “I commit to learning more about what LGBTQIA2S+ words mean and how they have changed over time;”
  2. “I commit to learning about the history and leadership of Black trans women;”
  3. “I commit to practicing pronouns and correcting myself EVERY time;”
  4. “I commit to attending QSA/GSA and being a leader at my school;”
  5. “I commit to watching and reading books, movies, and TV shows that have LGBTQIA+ characters;”
  6. “I commit to being my full self!”

Funny, I seem to recall that kindergarten sex education was a lot less complicated:
