Adam Schiff taunts Merrick Garland, brags Jan. 6 House circus is ‘far out ahead’ of Biden’s DOJ

Rep. Adam Schiff is not shy about going after fellow leftist Attorney General Merrick Garland and the Department of Justice if it will make him look good or advance his vendetta against former President Donald Trump.

Schiff (D-CA), who serves on the House Jan. 6 select committee, took a swipe at Attorney General Merrick Garland on MSNBC Wednesday, declaring that the Department of Justice has “more than enough evidence” to investigate Trump. As the ongoing witchhunt against the former president continues, Schiff, once again, is attempting to make himself the center of attention.

This is the same guy who previously asserted that he had rock-solid evidence that Trump had colluded with the Russians. That evidence never materialized and his allegations were debunked.

Breitbart Senior Editor-at-Large Joel Pollak tweeted, “He’s seen more than circumstantial evidence again. Just like Russia collusion, perhaps. Why do ‘reporters’ take this guy seriously?”

The California Democrat believes that Garland is moving too slow investigating the events of January 6, and those who stand accused.

“The Department of Justice has more tools – not fewer tools – than Congress to get at the truth,” Mueller investigation prosecutor Andrew Weissman said, referring to a piece he wrote in the New York Times that slammed the DOJ.

Weissman claimed the Jan. 6 committee’s hearings “have revealed evidence of a plot orchestrated by Mr. Trump and his allies in the White House and elsewhere.”

Ari Melber, the host of MSNBC’s “The Beat,” commented that the committee apparently spoke to numerous witnesses before the DOJ did. He then asked Schiff for his reaction to Weissman’s remarks.

“Do you share Mr. Weismann’s concern… could the DOJ be doing more, quickly?” Melber asked.

“I very much share his concern,” Schiff replied. “I have been expressing a similar concern, really, for months now. It is so unprecedented, and I’ve been part of many congressional investigations that have been contemporaneous with justice department investigations, but it is unprecedented for Congress to be so far out ahead of the Justice Department.”

Schiff went on to state that the DOJ has “potent tools to get information” as if he were literally describing preparation for the inquisition. He asserted that the Fulton County district attorney’s investigation into Trump’s phone call that allegedly pressured Georgia’s secretary of state to fabricate votes in his favor was “way ahead” of the DOJ.

He called the lack of action by the DOJ “a cause for great concern.”

“Are they afraid of the answer?” Melber asked him. “In other words, if the answer becomes overwhelmingly terminal evidence against Trump and they have it, then it puts more onus on them in the eyes of people inside the department.”

“I don’t think that it’s they’re afraid,” Schiff remarked. He then referred to the “terrible leadership” the department had under former Attorney General Bill Barr. “And I think there’s a desire at the justice department to restore the independence of the department to avoid controversy.”

“I think if they take that too far – the desire to avoid controversy – and they somehow in practical effect immunize the former president because it would be controversial to investigate a former president, that’s a political decision and I think a very dangerous one,” he charged.
